  1. Freddie Hubbard with Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers, Freddie's Blue Note Albums as leader and sideman. Those are the ones I like. And there are a few on some other labels I like too. But Freddie's CTI albums are , to my ears boring.
  2. Interesting that The Tatrai Quartet's on CD were also my first introduction to the Haydn String Quartets. I still have them and very much enjoy them along with many other sets of Haydn's String Quartets
  3. The Budapest String Quartet, The Weller Quartet and The Hungarian String Quartet are all early string Quartets that were all on analog recordings. You can find recordings of Beethoven, Brahms, Mozart, etc. by these quartets.
  4. I was fortunate to see him live a few times with the Thad Jones/ Mel Lewis Jazz Orchestra.
  5. My favorite would be the Prestige period, including Blue Train on Blue Note. I also like a number of his Atlantic recordings, but most of the Impulse sessions are not to my taste.
