  1. Piano Sonata No.1, Op.2/1 & No.2, Op.2/2
  2. I have it, and it is a very nice album.
  3. My favorite albums by Clark Terry as leader: Serenade To A Bus Street - Riverside The Emarcy album Color Changes - Candid ********************************** When I checked my files, I was slightly surprised to see that I have 30 albums with Clark Terry as leader. The number would grow by the hundreds if it included his sideman performances.
  4. HutchFan, I counted 14 really good Cedar Walton albums in the 80''s. It would take me a long time to try to figure out which one deserves special recognition. The one you selected is damn good, but so are many of the other 13.
  5. Kenny Clarke/ Francy Boland Big Band - All Blues / Sax No End Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis / Johnny Griffin Quintet - Tough Tenors Dexter Gordon & Slide Hampton - A Day In Copenhagen Hampton Hawes - Hamp's Piano Hank Jones Trio - Have You Met This Jones? James Moody / Al Cohn - Too Heavy For Words Oscar Peterson Trio - Tristeza on Piano Oscar Peterson (with Milt Jackson) - Reunion Blues
  6. This is a solid example of the Gene Harris I like as compared to the Three Sounds albums.
  7. I do have the Stanley Turrentine & The Three Sounds - Blue Hour album. Over the years, I have had a couple of Three Sounds (trio) recordings, but did not keep them. To my ears they were a bit dull and uninteresting. Yet, I have many Gene Harris albums - Trios, Quartets with guitar, and sessions with various horn players. For me, Harris swings harder and is a more interesting soloist when he was not a member of the Three Sounds. I realize that many here are fans of the Three Sounds, but they just don't do it for me. With regard to Horace Parlan, his work with Mingus was terrific. I very much like his trio recordings on Steeplechase. As both leader and sideman on Blue Note ( and other labels) he is damn fine.
