  1. I believe this is the only album where Rollins and McLean both play. I found Art Blakey's drum work highly impressive, especially on the tune "Denial". Miles playing On the tune "Bluing" also, to my ears, was damn good. Had not played this album in a very long time, and was slightly surprised at how much I enjoyed it.
  2. Cherubini - String Quartet No.1 - The Britten Quartet Rott - String Quartet - Mainz Quartet
  3. I don't recall amyone mentioning the delightful album of Al Cohn and James Moody together on the MPS label
  4. My personal taste primarily oriented to jazz from the 40's, 50's and 60's leads me to prefer Charlie Mariano's playing on his albums from those years. Though I don't care for most of his later sessions. There are a few exceptions including the two albums with Tete Montoliu, and the excellent "Deep In A Dream"
  5. This comparison speaks volumes for me. The Roland Hanna swings, has depth, and is an interesting album. The Noah Haidu lacks all 3 of the things mentioned above. Buster Williams is the one saving grace, but is not (in my opinion), able to save this basically very dull album.
  6. Very sorry to hear of the passing of Al Foster. He was a really fine drummer. Glad I had the opportunity to see him live.
  7. The Freddie Roach -"All That's Good" is available as a download on the Apple site.
