  4. Just for fun, I checked to see who else, among my favorites, recorded Nostalgia. Found these on my shelves. Hank Mobley -Savoy, Charles McPherson - Prestige, Sam Noto - Xanadu, Howard McGhee/Benny Bailey - Storyville, Art Farmer - Soul Note, Frank Strazzeri - Fresh Sound, Rein de Graaff - Timeless, Conte Candoli - Fresh Sound, Andrew Scott - Sackville.
  5. Yes, Al Cohn's Xanadu albums are marvelous. Also agree that his Concord recordings though good are not up to the level of his playing on Xanadu. Don't ignore Cohn's Xanadu sessions with Dexter Gordon, his 2 CD set with Billy Mitchell in Africa, and his Xanadu At Montreux recordings.
  6. Just came across this comment by Tootie Heath regarding Milcho Leviev. Tootie and I agree. I saw Milcho live a couple of years ago, and was completely unimpressed regarding his jazz capabilities. Also have heard him on a few Art Pepper albums with the same reaction. I realize that there are many jazz listeners who think very highly of him and give great praise to his playing with Art Pepper. There are a large number of Art Pepper recordings on my shelves, and I prefer every other pianist who played with Art over Milcho. He did not swing, and lacked an authentic jazz feeling in his playing. Of course that is just my personal opinion.
  7. A very fine CD. Jacquet is at his best on these tracks from 1951 -1958. An added bonus are the delightful piano solos on some of the tunes by Carl Perkins. Carl's solo on Honeysuckle Rose is especially outstanding.
  8. Disc 6 - Kenny Burrel(1961) and Coleman Hawkins & Clark Terry (1962)
