Prestige/Jazzland/Riverside unissued sessions/tracks

Thanks a lot for the clue (JSngry, bertrand and Larry Kart). It perfectly makes sense that the recording was for Landmark and not Fantasy, given that Hutcherson was under contract. Probably Miquel Jurado took for granted it was Fantasy, since the studio recording took place at Fantasy studios in Berkeley. I will hence contact Peter Keepnews. -

Additionally, there is the 1958 Newport Jazz Festival, where they played as a trio with Henry Grimes. Released on non-legit labels. Also, the Five Spot recordings with Coltrane ("Live At The Five Spot - Discovery!" on Blue Note) from September 1958, with Ahmed Abdul-Malik on bass. And more live recordings from that Fall 1958 were issued as "Live In New York, Vol. 1" on Explore and Thelonious Records labels. Finally, the CBS Radio broadcast (Quaker City Jazz Festival, Philadelphia, PA, August 27, 1960), with Rouse, Steve Lacy and John Ore. -
Out of the Sun Ra universe, he also plays in Phil Upchurch's "Feeling Blue" (Milestone, 1967). Finally, there's an Art Blakey live date, London, March 7, 1965, included as bonus tracks in the Jazz Messengers "Are You Real" Moon disc (Paris concert, Nov. 15, 1959).

Thanks for the info! Although I like and really appreciate Joni Mitchell’s greatness, I am not such a fan to get all that unissued stuff. However, I will check and maybe I will pick a few.

Prestige/Jazzland/Riverside unissued sessions/tracks

I got this information from Miquel Jurado, Tete´s biographer and one of his best friends in the last fifteen years of his life. He travelled with him worldwide, including his US gigs in the 80s, and used to write notes of every recording session he attended. Jurado owns a large collection with many rare Montoliu recordings. Jurado was not present in those Fantasy sessions but, as he is also a good friend of Montserrat García-Albea, Tete´s widow, he took care and revised Tete´s "vault" when he died (in his own words, "many boxes with copies of the tapes from many of his commercial sessions, with private recordings, broadcasts..."), and confirmed to me that he had heard those tapes. Looks like the copy Tete received from the recording company only included “Love Letters” from the studio session, being the rest of the tunes standards, according to Tete’s remembrance. I also remember some conversations with Mike Fitzgerald where we got some further assurance that those sessions were recorded by Fantasy, but can’t find that email exchange which dates from 15 years ago. However, at my request, in 2006 Stuart kindly looked around Fantasy’s vault and in a number of different lists and files, and he was not able to find out anything about these sessions. -

Sorry, I only copied and pasted the live recording. In fact there was a studio recording a couple of days later: Date: May 28, 1984 Location: Fantasy Studios, Berkeley, CA Label: Fantasy Tete Montoliu (ldr), Bobby Hutcherson (vib), Tete Montoliu (p) a. Love Letters (Victor Young, Edward Heyman) Additional unknown titles - reportedly all standard tunes. Material for a complete album was recorded but remains unissued. The LP was going to be called "Letter To J. H.". No trace of these recordings has been found in the Fantasy vaults. -
What rock music are you listening to? Non-Jazz, Non-Classical.
