  1. Yeah, the great Paavo Nurmi. In fact he won a total of nine gold and three silver Olympic medals: three golds and one silver at Antwerp in 1920, five golds at Paris in 1924 and one gold and two silvers at Amsterdam in 1928. And he set altogether 25 world records at distances from 1,500 metres to 20,000 metres. A true legend of Athletics.
  2. This is one of the best runners in Athletics history: (and I´m not pointing at Bernard Lagat) And this is said for one of the most passionate fans of Fermín Cacho, who was defeated many times by El Guerrouj... je, not in Barcelona (El Gerrouj was 18 at that time) nor in Atlanta! This photo was took in one of the best 1.500 races I´ve ever seen. 1997 World Championships: El Guerrouj won the race, but Fermín was second, with an incredible 52.8 for the last lap. Just one week later, at the Weltklasse meet in Zurich, Cacho's fast time finally came when he finished second over 1.500m behind El Guerrouj in a time of 3min 28.95sec, which moved him to third on the all-time world list behind Morceli and El Guerrouj. Oh, but those were the times....
  3. Thanks for the tips, John! And welcome back from your vacation! Much beer? Guess so!
  4. ENHORABUENA, ARGENTINA!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gold medal for an unbelievable generation of basketball (basquebol as they call it) players! I always keep a place in my heart for Argentina!
  5. Tom, email sent today. Cheers, Agustín
  6. Happy Birthday, Prez!
  7. I solemnly affirm that, with your current Mosaic collection, they can count themselves lucky! But, if you´re not happy with any of your OOP boxes due to tracking order, I would generously offer you a few bucks for them (say, four or five dollars for each CD)!
  8. I prefer them "chronogically", as in our beloved French label...
  9. Lots of fun in the ´65 session with Stuff Smith "Stuff and Steff", included in the Jazz in Paris series (JIP 82). I also dig another Grappelli album also included as JIP 42 "Improvisations" with Pierre Michelot (b), Baptiste Reillies (d) and Maurice Vander (p). On the other hand, I don´t return very frequently to "Menuhin and Grappelli play Berlin, Kern, Porter and Rodgers&Hart" which, in fact, was the first Grappelli without Django that I got.
  10. Another great for this one!
  11. Yes, unfortunately, Mosaic has had a marked tendency to do this since the beginning. On some more recent sets they've bowed to album-order due to popular sentiment (meaning complaints over the years) but clearly their hearts belong in sessionland. I wholly agree that, for music recorded in the LP era, album order (and not recording order) should be observed. If the artist (or the producer) decided to put the tracks in a specific order, let´s hear it like this! And pleeeeeaze (and this Mosaic does respect, AFAIK), alternate tracks ---> at the end of the disc. Otherwise, I have to use the programming function on my CD player.
  12. Anyone?
  13. Just replied, Dan. Thanks a lot!
  14. As I know you know all that can be known, I´d like to know webpages of traders of broadcast recordings. I only know about two of them, and though I´m not into that kind of trades, contacting with those guys would be very helpful for the Tete Montoliu discography. Millions of thanks in advance!
  15. By the end of September, I´ll go to Brussels for a few days with my wife (she goes because of a work affair, I go as a tourist, that´s life ). I´d like to know all jazz-related things you could tell me about: jazz clubs, CD stores... Y´all know what I mean! Thanks in advance
