If this is pointed in my direction, I must confess I was searching for a fuller Belgian connection! Rene Thomas I had figured out but I was also thinking Bobby Jaspar and spent too much (but very enjoyable time) relistening to the records from that glorious team. Did not get to the album that Jim identified in time. Besides how can we figure out those Blindfold Tests when we have Eurosoccer going on? I have been pounding Jaspar too, little quirky something was not right though. then I had to watch futebol... now I'll go and think about why I didn't pick up that Thomas title, how is the other one from the series? Both "The real cat" and "Meeting Mr. Thomas" JIP releases are superb, IMHO. I don´t have my copy here, but as far as I remember, the second one is a later recording (1963) and features Lou Bennett on organ (can´t remember now if he plays in all tracks), what brings another groove to the music. Actually I played a little tricky with "L´imbecile" as it´s one of the tracks where the guitar is not as much in the foreground as in most of the others.

And, besides track 1, we still have 7, 9 & 10 totally unidentified. For track 12, leader has already been identified, but not sidemen... and much less the recording (this will be a harder task, I think) Ooops, I forgot mikeweil still hasn´t brought his guesses for Disc 1. :rsmile: Let´s wait till he posts them. I won´t count my chickens before they hatch!

OK, but anyone cares to identify who´s doing each solo, without taking a look at the liner notes? (Of course I wouldn´t )

Marcus: Most of your post is applicable to the Spanish team... and at least France is gonna take part in the next stage! I am completely ashamed of how Spain has played. OK that in many previous championships we played well and then we lost, but with a coach like this... BTW he was renewed BEFORE the tournament: fuck stupid Spanish football federation!!! (anyway he SHOULD resign) And with some players totally off fit. Raul is the most clear example: it´s been his worst year ever without any doubt, but he´s kinda totem in the Spanish team. Results: he has been a heavy charge, not having added anything at all.

OK, there you´ll find 11 more tracks to criticize... 1 and 11 of the Bonus Disc are my choices for you...

Couw, the brother of the trumpet player that irritates so much so many people around here is the player on that tune. He is more interesting than his brother but his solo falls well beyond the composer's one on the original session. And besides the "brother of the trumpet player that irritates so much so many people around here" there´s ANOTHER saxophonist on this track, who plays the second solo. This second saxophonist has only made (AFAIK) two records as a leader but EVERYBODY at THIS FORUM should have HEARD him (note I don´t say "heard of him" ) Guess why? B)

You´re right, Martyjazz. Either I wrote the number of the discs wrongly on his discs, or Randy mistook the two threads. Anyway, and for all, the Official Blindfold Test #13 (Disc 1) is the one with 14 tracks, and the Bonus Disc is the one with 11 tracks.

Now that many of the participants have received the discs, and further discussion on Answers to BFT#12 is fading away, let´s keep this thing alive! And let´s do it in two separate threads, to make browsing and searching easier: one for disc 1, the "oficial" Blindfold Test #13, and one for the Bonus Disc. Hope y´all are enjoying them! Discuss Bonus Disc here! B) FYI: no real "theme" in any of the discs, just music!
