Who speaks Spanish? brownie, you do! I can hardly express myself in written English, leave alone oral English! Well, I started studying German about twenty years ago. It lasted a couple of months! And my wife speaks good French. Maybe she could translate... though she HATES jazz (at least when horns are being blown... not to mention trumpet high notes: she drives mad!!!) -
How To Donate To The Organissimo Forums
EKE BBB replied to Jim Alfredson's topic in Forums Discussion
Done hours ago, of course! Long life organissimo forums!!! -
Three points shot, MartyJazz!!! I have it in a different CD, but that´s it. (Sssshhhh, don´t tell anybody) B)

We're talking about track 9, right? That track is a mind blower. Can't recall having heard this before. Sounds like some Basieites are there (Jo Jones, Sweets). But this goes on sans Basie. And of course, it's not Carter! We'll get the album with this jam when the Truth is revealed... No, brownie: I compiled the guesses for personnel on track 8. Someone guessed it was a Basie-ites small group. I threw you the glove on track 9 regarding Benny Carter....
-
Only 8 braves have had the courage to post their guesses so far.... RRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNGGGGG !!!!!!!! FREE MOSAICS FOR ALL THOSE WHO POST THEIR GUESSES FROM NOW ON (if you´d ask me for those Mosaics... I´d delete this thread )
-
BTW: Only 6 brave members have posted their guesses to this Bonus Disc.... Come on guys, it´s FREE!!!
-
Would you bet your life it´s Benny Carter? Well, mikeweil made the same guess!!!! And brownie plus mikeweil can be a very convincing team....
-
Suggestions made for personnel on Track 8: -Basie small group -Krupa on drums?... Eldridge? Some Hawk disciple on tenor, but not the Hawk himself. -Chu Berry -Django -Bill Coleman? A tenor sounding like the Giant soloing on track 4? You gotta clarify!!! B)
-
Why in Paris? Do you hear that Parisian thoroughfare sound?

Artists Who Should Have Had a Mosaic...
EKE BBB replied to Leeway's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
You just hit it on the nose, Berigan! Give them OLD VINTAGE JAZZ!!!! B) And what about a Complete King Oliver? Or a compilation of 20´s, 30´s and 40´s Territory Bands? (I love that Frog release!) -
Someone at AAJ has just posted that the most recent news* about Lucky T show he´s still a confused man who has no interest in touching a saxophone. Literally: * from a very good source, it seems: Lola Pedrini who did her best to get him off the streets of Seattle and into a facility where he'd be cared for Sad news!

"Portrait of Sheila" is one of my favorite vocal jazz albums EVER! And don´t you dare criticize Sheila!
-
I have "Flexible flyer". A very good disc, for sure! With the added value of Sheila Jordan´s vocals!!!

Oooops, I didn´t even realize I recommended that disc months ago! I had supposed you mentioned me because of the BFT... I´m afraid I´ve made a fool of myself.... Anyway, eagerly waiting for your guesses.

If this is pointed in my direction, I must confess I was searching for a fuller Belgian connection! Rene Thomas I had figured out but I was also thinking Bobby Jaspar and spent too much (but very enjoyable time) relistening to the records from that glorious team. Did not get to the album that Jim identified in time. Besides how can we figure out those Blindfold Tests when we have Eurosoccer going on? I have been pounding Jaspar too, little quirky something was not right though. then I had to watch futebol... now I'll go and think about why I didn't pick up that Thomas title, how is the other one from the series? Both "The real cat" and "Meeting Mr. Thomas" JIP releases are superb, IMHO. I don´t have my copy here, but as far as I remember, the second one is a later recording (1963) and features Lou Bennett on organ (can´t remember now if he plays in all tracks), what brings another groove to the music. Actually I played a little tricky with "L´imbecile" as it´s one of the tracks where the guitar is not as much in the foreground as in most of the others.

And, besides track 1, we still have 7, 9 & 10 totally unidentified. For track 12, leader has already been identified, but not sidemen... and much less the recording (this will be a harder task, I think) Ooops, I forgot mikeweil still hasn´t brought his guesses for Disc 1. :rsmile: Let´s wait till he posts them. I won´t count my chickens before they hatch!
