  1. In case you missed it last week BGO has put out a sweet compilation of Hubbard's late 70s works. Keep Your Soul Together, his last work on CTI in my opinion is just as good as his first Red Clay. All 3 releases are remastered and sound better than before, especially Polar AC.which never sounded good on the previous issues I owned, http://amzn.com/B00IKXVMXI
  2. I'll have to pick this one up. The last Cannonball album I bought was The Happy People, which is wasn't bad.
  3. Oh I recommend picking this one up as soon as possible! It's on Wounded Bird who delete titles only after a couple years, and this one's got a two year head start!. It's highly worth it.
  4. So was there ever a newer mastering that corrected the squeaking problem? And if I understand right this was due to a faulty drum pedal?
  5. Can anyone comment on the quality and sound of Freddie Hubbard - Backlash and Griffith Park Collection? Should I replace my originals?
  6. Hi I'm looking for an album on CD called Yama by Art Farmer. As far as I know it was only issued in Japan. The last 2 on ebay sold for near $100, I'm willing to match the price. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ART-FARMER-YAMA-JAPAN-CD-JOE-HENDERSON-/140945794921
  7. Very good find! Gentle Warrior was my first Tim Warfield album as well. I later got all his albums except for his last one "A Sentimental Journey". My favorite one and the one I recommend as your second choice is "A Whisper In The Midnight". While I'm at it, I also should mention that Tim Warfield appears on most of Terrell Stafford's albums on MaxJazz label. I highly recommend "Taking Chances: Live at the Dakota" He's awesome on that, as well as Stafford! . Theres another album with the same group, but this time lead by the drummer Dana Hall. "Into the Light".
  8. I've really gotten into classical music recently and I've started to develop a passion for these Living Stereo recordings. I bought about 15 within the last 30 days! However I have been buying the original CD issues from 93-2000. They sound amazing, I can't imagine the redbook layers on the sacds sounding remarkably better. Plus the original issues didn't shrink the beautiful cover art like the SACDs have.
  9. http://www.ebay.com/itm/170897651876 Very rare CD issue of You, Baby by Nat Adderley A&M CTI Records 30XB-65 Very Good Condition 1. You, Baby 2. By The Time I Get To Pheonix 3. Electric Eel 4. 10. http://www.ebay.com/itm/170897650260 Keep Your Soul Together 24-bit Remastering.MTCJ 4018 Mini Lp CD. CD is in very good condition, Gatefold Mini LP jacket has minimal wear, includes inner insert notes, no OBI. Over all still very good condition.
  11. I got the Yusef Lateef box a few days ago. The sound quality is excellent, and I discovered I think what is a new favorite album. The Dreamer. It looks like outside another compilation this album has never has a stand alone CD release, but I think it's definitely worth it.
  12. I have Cookin on a seperate release. The box set I was considering was http://www.amazon.com/Essential-Albums-Miles-Davis/dp/B005HWUD4O/ but if its not Stereo I'm backing out. The issues that I have say they digitally remastered but no credits are given. They sound decent but noticeably mono.
  13. I currently have a 3 CD box set of Miles Davis' Workin Relaxin'. Steamin albums on Proper Records UK from 2008. I'm not sure if its bootleg or not, but I did notice that all the album sound Mono. I was thinking of upgrading to a new box set released last year on Prestige which has the RVG remasterings, but I wanted to know if there were or if there exists Stereo version of these albums?
  14. Hmm the packaging does not indicate that it is remastered but I did compare the wave forms and spectral views in Audacity and saw small differences in the shapes and sizes of the forms. Im not sure thats the right way to compare, but they dont appear to be the same masterings.
  15. http://www.ebay.com/itm/170887602812 Just letting it get some exposure......it's it a great Jazz album. I have another copy for myself so I don't need this one.
  16. Same here. Whats the difference between the older and newer artists?
  17. Thanks for all your suggestions guys. I didnt realize there were so many fans. Funny thing despite all thats been mentioned I still wound up with another Tim Warfield album. 'One for Shirley'. Theres some fine stuff on it, but it's redicuously long :-\ 77 min.
  18. I discovered the Criss Cross Jazz label several years ago, and I like to go there and sample albums from their large catalog going back as far as the 80s. Most of the artist it house I've never heard before, but they all are straight ahead hard bop musicians on a variety of instruments. Over time I've picked up almost all of the albums by saxophonist Tim Warfield. My favorite album being A Whisper In The Midnight. I would like to branch out a bit and get some recommendations of other artist and albums on the label though so what do you think of Criss Cross Jazz?
  19. Yes I contacted him several months ago. I got a reply back from his assistant she said she would pass this information along to him. But no updates have been made to his discography or his blog since june of 2011. Does anyone know where he is?
  20. Yeah Doug's discography is a good resource but its not perfect. He lists kicj-9013 as George Benson's Body Talk but its actually Bad Benson. And I have a CD issue of Nat Adderley's You Baby that he doesn't have listed at all. So theres still a chance some obscure CD issue still exist. But still a new reissue would be nice. I currently have a rip I found on the internet. I can't tell if its from an LP, it sounds really clean.
  21. Id like to know myself. Zero reply, it's like CTI fell of the face of the earth. I think it's back to Japanese imports to get a lot of the CTI / KUDU catalog. Was In A Temple Garden by Yusef Lateef ever released on CD?
  22. Has anyone compared this release to the previous one?
  23. I'm looking for this one MTCJ-4015 Hubbard/Turrentine In Concert Vol.2, and I need an OBI for this one MTCJ-4018 Freddie Hubbard - Keep Your Soul Together. Also John McLaughlin - Extrapolation UCCM-9195
