Saw the Brad Mehldau Trio last night here in Montreal, which reminded me of this record. Great show (both last night and this one, back in 1989).

The opening track of The Individualism of Gil Evans, "Time of the Barracudas", first came to mind (with Elvin on drums).
Revisting Wilbur Harden Savoy run (with Coltrane+Fuller+Flanagan). Very worthy records, all in all. Love Harden's large, soft sound. Flanagan shines as well.
I'd be curious to know some of the other tracks or records that stood out for you, Larry (I kind of did a similar Farmer retrospective recently, but mostly Art as a sideman).
