In a spirit of unity, peace and love 😅, I personally wish that the "What vinyl are you spinning?" and "What are you listening to?" threads were merged into one (which would make it easier for me to discover new and old music
That prompted me to listen again to this odd session ("CF & HH with French Horns"): more enjoyable than I remembered, although HH doesn't get a lot of space. Made me also think of Hawes' "Gold Dust Twin", Sonny Clark (a "Bone & Bari" mix for him with Fuller), with whom Hawes may share a closer connection than with Phineas Newborn.
Fellini, Godard, Herzog... the Coens, Aki Kaurismaki, Roy Andersson, a soft spot, for different reasons, for David Fincher's, Spike Jonze's and Alexander Payne's films as well.
I read that as well. I guess it can sound like a Monk/Clark mix (though I couldn't spontaneously identify it as a Monk nor a Clark tune 🤷♂️). Either way, one of my favorite Blue Notes. Great band!
