  1. Yeah, I'm still waiting for my orders to ship also. Orders placed 7/13, 7/14 and 7/21. No luck yet.
  2. In addition to the questions about what order they are filling the orders in, their order fulfillment is quite strange in and of itself. I was one of the people who received the confirmation e-mail listing 7/18 ship dates for both of my orders placed on Thursday and Friday. But I have heard nothing since about the orders actually shipping. On the other hand, other people have received tracking numbers. And of course, many people (seemingly the first orders) haven't received any info about shipping. Very strange to the say the least.
  3. I don't think the free shipping has any impact here. My first order from Thursday afternoon was for about $150 and received free shipping. I got the second e-mail ("Order Confirmation from Concord Music Group") listing the 7/18 ship date at 10AM Friday morning. I placed my second order on Friday morning, which was for about $60 and no free shipping oviously. I got my second e-mail for this order from Concord at around noon on Friday. Anyway, hope you guys get your confirmation e-mails soon.
  4. As others have said, I think patience should be the order of the day right now. It's not like Concord is a major e-tailer, so they will likely need some time to sort through all of these orders and get them shipped. If by mid-next week early orders have not started shipping, then that would be another story.
  5. I received shipping confirmations of 7/18 for my 2 orders earlier today. My first order was placed yesterday afternoon, and my second order was placed this morning. If your e-mail has a spam filter, you might want to check it for the e-mails. Even though Yahoo sent the original order confirmations to my regular Inbox, it sent the shipping confirmations to my Bulk spam inbox. Glad I checked there. Everything I ordered shipped, including the elusive Teddy Charles-New Directions.
  6. Just had another excellent ordering experience from zweitausendeins. Picked up the Dexter Gordon Complete Prestige, Complete Stax Volume 2, Sonny Rollins Freelance Years and Debut Records Story. Ordered online on July 2nd, shipped on July 5th, and received it in New York City on July 10th. Pretty amazing. And all 4 boxsets cost me less shipped from zweitausendeins than pretty much the Gordon alone would cost around here.
  7. My Basie set is now "dispatching soon" from Amazon UK. Can't wait to get this set. Thanks for the heads-up.
  8. Seems like a valid point, but there are always people who come late to the party. For example, as of a year ago, my jazz collection consisted of a few Miles albums, and a few Coltrane albums. Didn't know that Rollins, Shorter, Mobley, Morgan, etc. existed. Then through this board, the Hoffman forum, and other boards, I learned of Blue Note, Verve, and so many of the amazing jazz artists out there. Needless to say, I now own about 10 big Mosaic sets, about 10 selects, many Miles and Coltrane boxsets, a ton of Blue Note albums, etc. Anyway, my point is, if the JJ set went OOP a year and a half ago, I wouldn't own it. Just like all of the other Mosaic sets that are OOP and which I don't own. But since I got in at the right time to own the JJ set, amongst others, it is a part of my collection. But there are always new people being turned on to jazz, and they're a ready market for the out-of-print sets that many of you probably took for granted when you were buying them up at regular prices. Me personally, I won't pay e-bay prices for OOP Mosaic sets. But I'm upset I don't have some of them in my collection.
  9. That's annoying--I'm sure it's been frustrating. I placed an order with Stephan on March 30th for the Coltrane Prestige, Modern Jazz Quartet and Contemporary Records Story boxes, and received them this past Monday, April 10th. Regardless of the price, which was incredible for these 3 sets, I am very pleased with how quick they shipped the items and how quick they arrived in New York. I'm sure they'll make it right whatever happened. And I think you'll love the JJ Mosaic set--it's one of my favorites.
  10. Received my Coltrane Prestige big box, Contemporary Records Story box, and Modern Jazz Quartet box today. Just an amazing bargain, and they were a pleasure to deal with.
  11. Thanks for the welcome. I've been on this board for a while, and was surprised to see this was my first post. This is a great forum, and I've gotten tons of good info from here. Mosaic can thank this board for my binge-buying from them. Making up for lost time I guess. Oh, and Jazzkrow, I'm all too familiar with yourmusic. I've been with them since the $4.99 days. Just used them again for the Cellar Door boxset. But if you're in a browsing mood, Tower is a fun place to stop by. As to your other questions, there are a ton of options. In or near midtown: For Deli (corned beef, Pastrami, etc.), you can't go wrong with the Carnegie Deli or Stage Deli. They're both on 7th avenue, around 55th street. For bagels, H&H are great (they're THE NY bagels referred to in movies, tv shows, etc.). They're at 80th and Broadway. Cheesecake--Junior's in Brooklyn is the best, but not too convenient. Lots of delis and restaurants will have good NY cheesecake. Enjoy.
  12. Seeing as you're staying near Lincoln Center, and you will be seeing some performances there, you'll be pleased to know there is a large Tower Records right across the street from Lincoln Center, at 66th and Broadway. The entire basement is devoted to jazz, soul, oldies, etc. They have a good selection of mainstream titles, imports, box sets, etc. Have fun in NY.
