  1. Hey! You jumped the gun!!!!!! You'll have people choking on their Cheerios. Actually, it was right on the money. The set is gone...
  2. Hey, thanks for the heads up on this being available at Amazon. I got through about 2/3 of disk 1 last night, and it was great stuff. Very good sonics as well.
  3. My copy arrived today also from Amazon UK. Glad to have this set, and at a decent price to boot. My long box is pretty banged up, but so be it. This is clearly the European box, but the long box says "1999 Mosaic Records".
  4. Cool article. I just picked this up the other day at Borders using one of their 30% off coupons. Unfortunately, I've been too busy to listen to it yet, but I can't wait either.
  5. My box set should have arrived today from BB, so I hope to listen to it tonight. Initial feedback seems to be very positive on the mastering, but it's Vic Anesini, so that's not a surprise. BB canceled my $9.99 order, but did issue the $30 credit on my price adjustment from the initial order that shipped already, so the box set is costing me $15.
  6. Absolutely amazing. Just called BB and got $30 refunded from my pre-order which shipped last week. $9.99 for a limited edition Sly and the Family Stone Box Set. Possibly the deal of the year. Thanks for the heads-up on the price reduction [mistake...].
  7. That's where I picked up my copy about a year ago. Great album.
  8. I also picked up the import Universal Farlow for around $50 when it was available, and it was a steal at that price. I love the Farlow set--don't own the others, and don't really plan on buying them although I have considered them at times. Though I'd still consider the Farlow set worthy at regular price.
  9. I received my Complete Verve Roy Eldridge from deepdiscount. Everything went fine with the order. This is a numbered set, 1134/10000. So deepdiscount is a good option to use to pick up some Mosaics at a discount.
  10. Yes to both questions. They used to be 2 separate sites, deepdiscountcd, and deepdiscountdvd, and just combined into this one site. They've been around for years, and are a good company. Media mail shipping is free, but slow.
  11. Frankly, most of the available Mosaics (box sets and Selects) are available on deepdiscount right now if you search for them individually. Discounts are pretty nice, though not earth-shattering.
  12. Good find. Easily one of my favorite Mosaics. Any other Mosaics on deepdiscount?
  13. I received my package as well. Other than noticing that the sets were not sealed, I didn't inspect the packages and discs too closely, but everything looked to be in good shape. Since I own the big Coltrane Prestige set, I am not overly concerned, as the Fearless Leader box will just be nice to have for free with the new mastering.
  14. Similar to Soul Stream, I find myself coming back to the Horace Parlan Mosaic more often than most. There's something about it that is hard to put my finger on, but from track 1 of the set to the last track, everything is top-notch. Even with owning the Mobley, Elvin, Max, JJ, etc. sets, this is truly one of my favorites and IMHO a must-purchase.
  15. I was a member in the $4.99 days, kept going during the $5.99 days, and just cancelled, but was not offered the $5.99 to stay. I can always rejoin, but I just see that yourmusic has gone way downhill recently. I have orders from a couple of weeks ago that haven't shipped yet, they don't respond to e-mails anymore, etc. It's very strange that some people are still able to get CD's there for $5.99.
  16. Hey, I won also. Seriously. I had forgotten I entered, but I got the e-mail today. I haven't won anything in years. I already have the big Coltrane Prestige box set, but this will be nice to have. CONGRATULATIONS!!! You are the one of our lucky winners in the CONCORD COOL COLTRANE SWEEPSTAKES! As one of our winners, you will be receiving the following prizes; A copy of the 6-C D boxed set of “Fearless Leader” by John Coltrane A 2-C D collection of “The Complete 1957 Riverside Recordings” by Thelonious Monk with John Coltrane A limited edition T-shirt and A limited edition collection of commemorative stamps
  17. At night after I get home from work, I've been playing Bill Evans' Turn Out the Stars, Last Waltz, and Consecration Part 2 quite a bit. Outstanding music. I think I'll need to delve into my Pepper Hollywood All-Star Sessions and Village Vanguard box sets, as it's been a while since I played those. And I've hardly cracked the surface of my Pepper Galaxy box. Great stuff all around.
  18. Why not order it from Buy.com. It's only $32 if you check out using google checkout. This is a crazy low price for this set. I paid $40 and thought that was a good price. What it Is
  19. Actually that was Ron's recommendation. I ended up buying two copies of the Kempff 50's set. Ron - they should give you a comission. Oops. Well, whoever's it was, I bit.
  20. Jazz Crusaders Discs 4 and 5. I love this box set--swinging from start to finish.
  21. Even though I already have the referenced Barenboim EMI Complete Sonatas set and enjoy it (picked up cheap a while back form Amazon UK as well), I bit on the Klempff set recommended by Chalupa at Amazon UK. This set seems to be priced around $90-$100 in the states, so $40 is a very nice price. Looking forward to it.
  22. The Borders Rewards card is a no-brainer. I am not sure about all of the ways in which you benefit, but I know if you spend $50 in a given month, then the next month you'll be entitled to a personal shopping day where you get an additional 10% off everything on that day, on top of other coupons and discounts. So personally, with the perpetual 30% off coupon available from visitborders.com, I have been buying a decent amount of stuff at Borders lately, mostly Fantasy SACD's and RVG's not available at yourmusic. Prices with the 30% off coupon are competitive. And I have used different copies of the same 30% off coupon consecutive times on the same day or on back-to-back days, and I don't think they track coupon usage, or if they do, they don't care. And when I used a personal shopping day a week or so ago, I got some nice deals with the extra 10% off on top of the other coupons. So I think you'd be silly to not sign up for the rewards. It takes like 20 seconds to do it at the register. And I imagine around holiday time there are some other perks.
  23. I have this set and love it. Hardly a bad track on the whole box set. Don't forget that at CD Universe, if you use Google Checkout (which is free and easy to sign up for), you get $10 off, so it brings the box set down to about $42 shipped. I went with CD Universe over the 30% off from Borders, and I think it's a steal at this price.
  24. You found jazz SACDs at Borders???? Where is this Borders? I'd like to take a picture of it and show it to the Borders stores down here! Yup, a decent amount of Jazz SACD's, and a few DVD-Audio's as well. This is in NYC--Columbus Circle. They have other SACD's that I already own, like Monk and Coltrane. Again, most if not all of the SACD's I have found there are Fantasy. I would be surprised though if they order more when I buy the ones they have. For all I know, they could have been sitting there for years.
  25. I wouldn't say I've found great deals, but I have been using these coupons routinely on some SACD's at Borders, mostly Fantasy SACD's. In the past few days, I've picked up Pepper's Gettin' Together and Dolphy's Out There SACD's for about $14 each. The retail prices are about $18.99, so the 30% brings them down to what I consider a reasonable price for some good SACD's that you won't be able to buy just anywhere. I've also picked up a few recent Blue Note RVG's for about $8 or so. Nothing earth-shattering, but the msrp is low enough on the Blue Note RVG's that when you want one and you see it at Borders, it's nice to know you can get it for a reasonable price so long as you have a coupon. And of course, if you happen to find something at Borders that is OOP and you would snap up anyway, the coupon sweetens the deal. But in general, even 30% off msrp is not enough to get me to buy something at Borders.
