EKE, you know of course that also EKE played electric piano... There's no instrument I really dislike - it's more the use of an instrument that can get on my nerves. Synthesizer, then would be the most obvious thing, in my case. (I once read an interview with Joe Zawinul, where he showed himself very astonished that such great musicians as Herbie Hancock would loose the last bit of taste when playing synths...) Uh, I like the flute, I like vibes, I like organs (though Glenn Hardman on that date with Lester Young... as I said the use of can bother me), also I like the violin, the accordion... and the soprano sax - I cannot listen to Shorter on soprano all the time. He lived in NYC for some years, I think. I saw him live only once, accompanying Dhafer Yousef. He was playing with great control, very inventive, without overpowering the music (which is the problem I have with some of his more d'n'b things). The bass player was Dieter Ilg (german), and Markus (?) Stockhausen (the son of K-H) was on trumpet (& very carefully and sparingly used synth/midi). A great concert! ubu

That one in Zurich looks cool! Gotta go! The Speed/Black affairs look interesting, too! They played Willisau last year, have the broadcast. Gotta listen again. Black's a great drummer, probably one of the most interesting ones around these days! Favre, of course, the master percussionist... no idea though, who his partner is, neither what exactly that instrument could be. Regarding the other concerts in Geneva, let me have a look... I have heard something by Stephano Saccon, but I guess he won't be of too much interest for you. He plays alto, sort of Cannonball style, adds some electronic and a strong rhythm section (that's his own band, not the ones on that concert "GASP") Jan Brönnimann released a CD on Universal recently, called "Brink Man Ship" - sort of jazz-electronica, rather close to easy listening often, sometimes though they his some interesting grooves. I don't know the CD, have a broadcast. Reimann is the guitar player of that project. No idea who the cellist is. Marcel Papaux is a great mainstram drummer (maybe there's more to him than mainstream, I'm not so familiar with him) - check him out when he plays with some other band. Coming to march... You know Geri Allen, I suppose... also Vandermark. Otherwise, it looks like almost everything in march includes "chant"... And I don't know the musicians involved, safe: Domenic Landolf, a talented post-bop tenor, with a good band (Brodbeck is good, seems his regular crew). Yves Massy plays/leads an interesting crossover project called "Rosetta" - mixing jazz and some sort of folklore. That's it. I guess you can pass the ones I know, maybe if you get some more information about the concerts, check out some, but I would not know which ones. ubu

Thanks for sharing! I'm really looking forward to this release. I only heard the (probably rather disappointing) studio sessions with Feldman, Bond, Butler etc. once, years ago, but I know and have most of the concerts (the Antibes, the 1964, Berlin). The big surprise for me will be the Tokyo concert with Sam Rivers. Never heard it! And I really like these boxes, too! I got them all, most of them right after they were in the shops. ubu

A Mosaic Jazztet set is a dream come true for me too! I will most definitely pre-order this one! $$$ I picked up several of the Jazztet's albums on LP, too. Currently listening (and enjoying ) Terry Gibbs' "Jewish Melodies in Jazztime", by the way. Has Gibbs on doorbells, and on some tunes his brother, Sol Gage, and wooden doorbells . Sort of a retro-nostalgic thing, I guess, but hey, that was in 1963, looooong before today, where such exercices in nostalgia are rather trendy. ubu
