  1. Jim, No offense intended. No offense taken. I agree with you 100%...anything to lighten the load at this point is more than welcome.
  2. Ask and you shall receive: http://www.uni-watch.com/2011/11/14/monday-morning-uni-watch-76/#fish
  3. It'll be interesting to see what Paul Lukas from ESPN's Page 2 column "Uni-Watch" will have to say about these. He's usually on the mark. FWIW, I've never been a fan of any iteration of Marlin's toggery.
  4. I believe what we have here is a fairly large orion from which only the very topmost layers have so far been peeled.
  5. I was hooked right from the get go on the American version of The Killing. Never thought very much about the pacing until now, but it is certainly deliberate. There's sort of a cinema verite or "you are there" vibe to it that makes you feel more involved and closer to the characters. Maybe that, along with the darkness of the whole thing, is what attracted me to it. If this is "slow" TV, bring it on.
  6. Boy, that didn't take long. Right on both counts.
  7. Boy, even moving into a shiny new ballpark and repurposing your brand didn't do a thing for their sense of style. I'm especially enamored by the look of the guy second from the left.
  8. I gotta get back in the game: And one more:
  9. The indictment. WARNING: Not for those with weak stomachs. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/college/chi-1107-sandusky-report-pdf,0,2535623.htmlpage Sandusky, in an interview with Bob Costas, has denied the allegations against him.
  10. Ed, I had some friends who went to the Friday and Saturday night gigs in Eugene, Oregon a few weeks ago. They brought back CD's of both shows. Based on this "documentation" and their personal accounts, it sounds to these worn out old ears that Further has improved to the point that you can really talk about them in the same breath as the Dead and not risk having your face stolen off your head. Don't get me wrong, I'll always love the original crew, and there's only one Jerry, but I really think the musicianship in Further is at an even higher level. I'm also convinced that they've done something to process Bobby's voice as he sounds way better to me than he ever has. Not complaining. The backup vocals have also improved. When I saw Further in Portland a year or so ago, Sunshine Garcia was way back in the mix. She's now more up front and the band is the better for it. Some great music going on here. Anyone who's on the fence about shelling out to see these guys should go ahead and take the plunge. I doubt they'd be disappointed.
  11. I'd eat it...wish I hadn't and then probably go all bulimic on your ass.
  12. Allow me to attempt to redeem myself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DtaPNDqlmg
  13. So it seems as if my earlier entry of The Fugs doing "Saran Wrap" probably doesn't quality. My bad.
  14. I loved these guys right from the get go, but I can't imagine there's ever been a back-up band that looked more unhip than The Dreamers. Every one of these guys looks like at one time they might have made a living selling encyclopedias door to door.
  15. A littler bit 'o trivia regarding Spanky & Our Gang. One of their biggest hits, Sunday Will Never Be The Same, was co-written by Terry Cashman. Yes, that Terry Cashman, famous for penning maybe the best baseball song ever, Talkin' Baseball.
  16. One of my guilty pleasures: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KfUb9o0lDoo
  17. I'm wondering how they manage the $$ on this. It's a 37000 seat stadium, Ramirez is signed at about $11mil/year, Reyes will be at least $10mil/year, Pujols about $20-25mil/year. It doesn't seem to leave much for a pitching staff, etc. Kind of like the Yankees. All offense and no arms.
  18. I'm hoping this qualifies. It's sort of a happy tune about making do and getting by. If I've erred, I will gladly accept whatever punishment is deemed necessary and appropriate. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyX-jVnmN6s&feature=related
  19. Sounds like a Beatles cover from around the Revolver period.
  20. I feel like I've been covered in soot and poo. (Salad Fingers Episode 4)
  21. Looks like Florida is out to become a player. They're seriously courting both Jose Reyes and Luis Pujols. That would be some coup for a team that most people barely know is there.
  22. Hate to break in on this mutual admiration society, but Jonathan Papelbon has signed with the Phillies. Four years, $50 million.
  23. Just about anything by The Association. See if you can find one they did called Rose Petals Incense and a Kitten. Unfortunately, It's not on YouTube. It was on and album called BIrthday the same one that included Everything That Touches You. Here's a "what were they thinking" for you. When I saw The Association many years ago in Portland, Iron Butterfly was the opening act.
