  1. Love love love. Pollini is THE rhythmic genius in Chopin for me (as well as so many other things)!
  2. Absolutely - and in beautiful sound!
  3. Oh not at all! Yes...quite something...must be fairly close to the top of the list of every musician's worst nightmare! Now playing:
  4. Wonderful! Have you seen this fairly remarkable Youtube video? 5 minutes, but well worth it!
  5. Pretty sure the Dixon/Oxley/CT gig was 2004; a double bill with a Braxton Quintet, whose set yielded this recording.
  6. I have to confess, I don't really know much about her: but yes, I think the dance background would help identify with this piece (original commission was from Ida Rubinstein I think), and also the stage experience. And it certainly does feel natural here. I can imagine her sounding great in something like Stravinsky's Persephone too (a part Rubinstein did in the original performance, I think). Seems that way! It's new to me; I picked it up after hearing a fantastic version on the radio from Symphony Hall, Birmingham, the other week. LOVE Annie Fischer's Beethoven. She pretty much owns op.109!!!
  7. Yes indeed! She takes the narrator's part - does it brilliantly.
  8. Yes...was listening again to the Royal Festival Hall recital from 1957 the other day...incredible playing. The Schumann in particular...phew.......
  9. Listening to the Martinu from this. Incredible. And also - beautifully recorded.
  10. Absolutely! Thanks for that link, by the way
  11. So much amazing stuff on Supraphon. As I type, I'm listening to the Mackerras/Prague Chamber Orchestra Mozart 36...
  12. Ha...indeed!!! (Not guilty. Yet.)
  13. Great - thanks! I must check these out...I love the sound of this orchestra...in fact, have picked up a couple of those 'Ancerl Gold' releases recently too - spectacular.
  14. Oh interesting - how is this? I was listening to the Kletzki/Pollini Chopin concerto yesterday, and thinking how great the orchestral playing was on that...
