  1. Anthony Braxton Saxophone Improvisations Series F (America Records) CD 2
  2. On English self-congratulation. The discussion did not involve the crisis of Dutch football at all, but focussed on the current World Cup. Much has been said domestically on the decline of Dutch football, and it does not involve the self-delusion and -congratulation displayed by the English media (and public) around its current team. Even at the time of their third place in Brazil 2014 the Dutch national team were being severely criticised at home, including by analysts at full-time on live television. It must be the Dutch brand of outspokenness that's troubling you. Though luck, chums, Johnny Foreigner has a mind of his own and is not afraid to speak it.
  3. Since the seventies, on the whole probably a lot better than England, but that's beside the point. It's really a fluke that a team as average in quality and bereft of creativity as this England made it this far in the tournament. The only reason this is worth commenting on is the way the English characteristically dealt with it. Most overrated team in the tournament for sure.
  4. Typical English self-delusion.
  5. Right, like 'your' man Trump's attack on Germany today. The best words, man, all the best words.
  6. Croatia motivated by England’s lack of respect, says Luka Modric Luka Modric has accused English journalists and pundits of showing a lack of respect to Croatia’s players and admitted his teammates had used criticism to motivate them to victory against England in their World Cup semi-final. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/jul/11/croatia-motivated-lack-of-respect-england-luka-modric
  7. I didn't know you are 'Merican, mjazzg.
  8. Without wishing to insult the English members of this board, it's how you are perceived abroad, and for good reason, I think.
  9. Dutch analyst at 90 minutes: England awful and consequently their breathtaking arrogance ('it's coming home') turns them into a laughing stock.
  10. Great news!
  11. So did Hitler spring 1940.
  12. As the title From The Original Master Tapes indicates, the stereo master for Vilia was available for Steve Hoffman to use in 1985. That compilation CD also saw the first release anywhere of two Village Vanguard tracks (alternates of India and Spiritual). The booklet states 'Digitally remastered from the original Impulse stereo first generation masters.' They apparently wanted a mixture of well known and obscure tracks. https://www.discogs.com/John-Coltrane-From-The-Original-Master-Tapes/release/3691711 Perhaps this 1985 CD was the first time Vilia was issued in stereo? (I somehow thought the compilation JSngry posted was mono.) Anyway, for Buddy Holly's From The Original Master Tapes, there is the Steve Hoffman MCA master tape affair. I forgot some of the details Hans once shared with me, but see here for example: http://microdynamiks.blogspot.com/2015/08/chapter-2-steve-hoffman-tape-thief.html
  13. That's the advantage of having zero musical education. I don't even attempt figuring out the meter. I simply close my eyes and concentrate, and then hopefully get transported and feel like getting it.
  14. This sadly did not surprise me at all. I think a fail of nerves and lack of believe in oneself at crucial moments is very Belgian. It's no coincidence the Flemish had two Dutch analysts on their panel, even if these former Dutch footballers, father and son Mulder, have connections to Flanders. Mulder senior always gets the first word in at half and end time. I'm sure Mourinho had a ball last night. On most English language media (e.g. Gary Lineker and his BBC team) that narcissistic asshole and his brand of repulsive football can do no wrong. Once again this is a case of the language barrier. On the VRT it was immediately and clearly acknowledged both De Bruyne and Hazard had off nights.
  15. Discogs.
  16. Thought I'd give this a spin: Hozan Yamamoto & Masabumi Kikuchi Ginkai (Silver World)
  17. Thankfully Kikuchi is quiet on the albums I own ( Ginkai (Silver World); Joe Henderson and Kikuchi, Hino in Concert). I have never explored him further because of these stark warnings.
  18. I think it was also released on CD in stereo on the Steve Hoffman mastered MCA compilation From The Original Master Tapes from 1985, though that was not the first time it was issued. Trane plays soprano on the version from From The Original Master Tapes. Timing 4:39.
  19. The players' side: WTF? Have cake and eat it? Who knows?
  20. From the spectators' side, football is mostly a money drain for hate-filled knuckle-draggers.
