  1. ... and then there is this one about Pastoral Composure: ...i think i just wore out my finger prints snapping along.
  2. Multiplication Table it is then... been scouring and thought i'd share this little Amazon insight into the man's music.
  3. Have listened to quite a bit of Matthew Shipp's pomo experiments and beautiful musical journeys on his Blue Series brand of Thirsty Ear records and am curious for any recommendations of his works prior. While i'm no out and "out" Cecil Taylor fan I would appreciate some recs for a more accesible approach to maybe some of his HatHut pieces. I have only heard his string trio work with Maneri (not so inclined) and I guess I'm more apt to maybe move toward his trios with Ibarra and Parker?? Is there one master work before the millenium that you might say is a must have??
  4. Alan comes away with this! His recent Holy Grail!! (and Sonny's last notes) You knew it was there all along and this whole trip, graduation, girlfriend set-up blah blah was just a ruse?
  5. shouldn't this be in the "politics" forum? but seriously i would love to gets me the first three as well. i even resisted looking over there in hopes that i'd someday peruse them w/o knowledge.
  6. Damn! John even got that little bit of superflous halo glinting down the back of the figure.
  7. ...freekin John ... man i have always wondered about that disc. that's a soundtrack from a german movie / documentary? i should have stuck with my gut again... but zorn gets so much the shaft around here that i figured no way ... not on another bft. tell me more about that disc will ya!
  8. Pheww ... those two Mike psted are a couiple of spin off Hanrahan's. His whole exotic, taboo, Forty Theives middle eastern vibe period. After he tired of his Loisaida slap-happy lovers. Disposable to most but some absolutely great, great Don Pullen!
  9. Man I'll be dipped if that's from a Kip album! He does have that Fernando Saunders-ish vocal strain going on.
  10. couw... where's that image from. looks so simply "wet". Nice!
  11. geez... at the rate AB and couw get going on this stuff Michael oughta set em up in a hoyty toyty Stamford victorian for a week and see what flies.
  12. from Mosaic: i believe that since the license runs it's course in seven months that this might be the reason to post it up now?
  13. no, no, no... if you have the 'time' to sign up for the thing then you MAKE the time to say "i got my perfectly re-mastered bft disc and you are some sort of musical mensa maniac!"
  14. Not aimed... there were at least ? who did not even post an acknowledgement like "what the hell you sending me this crap for?" during bft 7.
  15. I was scouring that as well but RC sez that the saxophonist here only appears here.
  16. Aw c'mon. That "Fucshia Swing Song" was McMaster's portfolio piece! And the old Jrvg of "Easterly Winds" should be re-called! I'm hoping "Contours" loses a bit of it's shrilliness from the Mosaic in the way FSS came to be. Now I'm only hoping that EMI doesn't make us say "wish they weren't Copy Controlled here in the States too".
  17. Yeah let's wait and see who actually posts ... free music it really ain't and i think it's owed to the compiler to put your head into it a wee bit.
  18. Did not know that Fess' compat even pulled the knobs. Any commentary?
  19. #8: Well having never heard the New Winds Ensemble's works I'm starting to lean a bit more to Ned Rothenberg here than say Ehrlich or even Hemphill. And I think track #9 is a bit more modern than we believe (did you give date for that?) and that it could very well be one of the more recent snakey Ehrlich pieces for his larger works rather than the date of the pianist. Then again I have no Muhal to haul out and listen to. But man that drummer is doin'! Then we have this little break of the strings with a couple of ding-dings for the bell-man and the cut comes to a close... me thinks the Rock is tricky on the post engineering to toss off the Googlers. Then comes some circular pan flootin on #10 to bring me back to wondering about ... #8- I really wish they would have given that kid a shot of Robotussin before the show (i always do). The setting is so small that it could be one of those Knitting Factory Works discs and the fact that it ends so abruptly tells me that the Rock was cutting this one down to make room on his Dagwood BFT Sammich (timing may be more than 2:36 in the googling). I keep looking for circular breathers, as we have a couple on here, that play with obtuse cello. Hep me somebody! ..... edit: looking back I missed the tip that #9 is from '67... shoot, there goes my voice from barking up the wrong tree again.
  20. So I take it you didn't experience euphonium euphoria? true of all responses that Hank's big grin that comes and goes makes it ... but nothing like this
  21. Hint Request: any chance that the saxomaphonost on #2 plays elsewhere on your BFT? ...and he doesn't quite go as "far" as Murray would when he does.
  22. While I've slept over-night outside in all sorts of weather, er ... in all sorts of stages of inebreation, to score good seats back in the day, I must now go to the internet to try to procure a few seats for a Hilary Duff concert. Don't want to do it yet as this sets up a whole can o' worms for what the future will bring, but it's the calling. Now I know a bunch of you bobby-soxers out there regulally go for the hair-metal bands and stop short at this sort of yowsa wink wink bubble gum stuff but if there are any tips as to how to get some goodies for a decent price let me have em. eBay is already looking like at least a couple of OOP Mosaic sets for the taking. OUCH!$
  23. i can take big black a bit more easily than basoons and euphonia.
  24. Truly sorry, Randy. Stay as strong as those wonderful thoughts you so simply expressed here.
  25. just another pointless post as i've so many in this bft but ... someone's gotta crack #8 or i'm gonna lose it! where's Nate? and now that we know the #6 vocalist is not a female and certainly ain't jimmy scott...???
