  1. Last night's "Hey Yaaaa" won me over. Those back-up shakers were better than a polaroid picha. :rsmile:
  2. Chick played absolutely beautiful notes like he probably does now in his sleep, when all the while the Foo Fighters guy was trying his best to shake the Tenex out of his hair and onto the ivories (like one of those cool buddy duets between nearly aging rocker and rhythm section minion) but since Chick was asleep he didn't mind. I think maybe they were conjuring some sort of David Sancious / Springsteen thing but then again one can't conjure up talent.
  3. Re: Paris Moods? Does the rhythm w/ Terrason play acoustic or electric bass in support? edit: I think I found my answer. What Kevin said!
  4. I've got one of these Tivoli radios next to me (it's great and I even got rid of my Terk FM Pro antenna) at work since I rely on my fidelity elsewhere for really listening. Surprised they have not come up with something a bit more to your specs. If you have a bunch of nightstands this might work though. Still pricey!!
  5. ss....Might you have a link for CDUniverse that blankets this new series? Thanks!
  6. As mailing of the discs or disks nears please look to the initial post here and see if you are included. Just to double check me, any names I have listed above have sent me an e-mail with their address. If you are not on that list please do forward an e-mail as I may have overlooked something or missed the e-mail, okeedokey. Thanks!
  7. Just an update- I now have 28 on the list so far and from the looks of it BFT #6 will be "officially" answered by the first of next week. I will try my best to get the European mailings out by then and follow up with the stateside distribution. I know there is much discussion after the facts have been revealed, as there already has been much great reception for Randy's discs, so hopefully a week's lag won't be to long. Any comments welcome.
  8. 1-5 well i'm out again with that silly guess and unfortunately in between the above posts so c & j are on. having googled it would be some long out of print trio on the Catalyst label? that is a fantastic cut and it's been the one i've listened to the most thus far. those pieces that strike you as redundant upon first exposure are invariably the ones that tend to reveal the most. if it is this, then thank you rh for letting us all have the pleasure.
  9. check out the hangers on this rack
  10. re: 1-5 Just to toss up a guess, as "we have too many users right now" must be because of all this, but, when Snow White makes a wish does she look down into a _________?
  11. I've wondered about this to. I have seen that a great many early boogaloos during it's initial craze were called by only one "o" - some Puente comes to mind. It might just be the first Spanish language way of writing it that titles this album.
  12. Tom, my sincerest condolences to you.
  13. if someone does not use this for a "signature line" i just don't know... or this...
  14. Boy track five on the first disc has me the most entranced right now. It is definitely tooooo long for me but that's a silly reason to shruff it off. The three horsemen (actually one's a couw) here say it's Mal Waldron and I'm not really all that familiar wit his work. If it is then I need to be ejamacated. As Jsngry states that it seems like the pianist is about to blow, my googling leads me to the acknowledgement that a decade before this cut, if it is Mal, he suffered a breakdown and needed to relearn some aspects of his playing from there. That the creative mind can be so hardened by so much yet so frail is a continuing mystery. This is one heavy track and should not be so maligned (pun pardoning). I recall John Zorn describing Tristano's fingers as made of "sledgehammers" and that's not far off mark here - maybe 'ball peens'. That little redundant elementary figure after 00:39... that is called out in a previous post, is really like some native american dervish akin to Pullen's "Common Ground" playing. Please tell me more, oh those on the mountain top.
  15. Whether it's popes or beatles.
  16. just so you know where to hang your hat!
  17. while you're rubbing and thumping.
  18. Oh yeah! This is the tip of the month. Just got this from DGA and it is simply beautiful. The mastering, not that any of us really care , is stunning. This quintet was in the room today! Wilen sounds perfect although not quite enough of him. Mine's a Right Tempo Classics release. FWIW Thanks Dave and Lon!!!!
  19. I hope I get you right when I say: The answer is YES! Oops, well after reading Jsngry's post I'm not on the mark with this. I was alluding to who I thought might be the saxophonist from his own large groups on what I think might be the same Italian label of record. And man I can't believe, (I mean I can) Jim's post! You must have some outboard 500 Gig brain sitting in a jar like that one horror movie I saw when I was a kid where the organ controls a whole wall full of arms that ends up strangling the bad guy.... what the hell am i talking about here? Simply amazing.
  20. something a bit more news worthy
  21. is one of these guys a choir-boy?? This cut is a KILLER!
  22. Very sorry to hear this news. What b3-er said is very important. My wife is a big believer in giving those so close to you "permission", especially a parent. Your Strength, Love and Warmth are so apparent. Wish you the best.
  23. As BFT # 6 is well under way I am just taking the charge to allow enough time for all participants to hit me up for #7. My e-mail is a new one and I'm going to give it a shot for this test as a start: please use e-mail function I will probably go ahead and burn all and mail the stateside discs myself unless Texas has an out cropping of more than half a dozen members. I do welcome some distribution from across the sea ... I know that there are a few in the Black Forest that might help snuffle out the post girls, and the UK as well. Any offers tendered - I will count on the advice of the experienced for any tips. As for the disc, a solo, I can only ask that you listen to it as you would a complete piece, start to finish. I know that I have a habit of occasionally skipping around in between cuts (possibly my short attention span lisdexic thing) when digging into a BFT but I've selected a whole bunch that are, for the most part, hardly longer than a few minutes each. I hope it works for yall. Please e-mail me so that I may put you into the address pool! 24. You know to be truthful I was a bit off-put at first by these two discs and had a harder time wrapping myself around the mix than prevously. Now after perusing the earnest leads, links, stories and editorials as well as the "wahdaphuckayouthinkin i hope someone sharpens your q-tips" quips:D I've gotta say that these platters are deeper than I had first imagined. I know there is a thread in here somewhere especially with Weston, Evans groups being revealed (and really first times for any of these groups to cross my path). Truly looking forward to the hash once Jim S ponies up. And mikeweil can you give more clue to D2#8... I came up with an imageless window and all that's above is "flower". (Funny that the next BFT has minor similarities to the past two even though it was in the works a ways back.)
  25. Hey can somebody please tell me how to make stuff BOLD!? I did the 'alt + b", put the word in between and I get ? marks??? edit: thanks to ?COUW? for below
