  1. Which Oliver Perez shows up for the Mets today, the one that can pitch 8 innings with two hits and 9Ks, or the one that pitches 4 innings with 6 walks? Massive clutch performance by Santana yesterday, complete game shutout knowing his bullpen is bull----. I feel sorry for the Mets fans, I am just an old softie. I have been there too many times. Perhaps their GM will learn next year a (good)bullpen is important! Braves thought for years it wasn't that big a deal, and kept getting bit in the ass by it...Smoltz would have won 20 Games in 2007 with a good one. and Santana was 16-7 for the year, 2.53 ERA, best in the league. Why so little Cy Young talk for him??? His bullpen blew 7 games for him. Better not be Webb this year. Lincecum, Sabathia, or Santana, should be the choices, IMHO.... How about Brad Lidge? A perfect 41 for 41 in save opportunities. Good point about Lidge...After all that trouble he had in Houston, then moving to the town of boo birds...I thought was going to be a massive mistake! Wrong!!!

  3. Congrats!!!
  4. Was just watching Torn Curtain on TCM yesterday....The Sting and Towering Inferno, two commerical films, that were both highly entertaining.... To give away hundreds of millions of dollars like he did...more than he made during his acting career....very few people would do that. Rest in Peace.
  5. Man, you had me worried I had started a tread about that show! I said in December it rang a distant bell, now I say I don't remember it at all! Ah, getting older, so much fun!
  6. Anyone ever see this Buck Henry show??? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001DHE9G...f_rd_i=13743401 Amazon exclusive. I don't remember it at all, which seems strange, but so be it. The little clip they have doesn't overwhelm me either, but I know the show has a cult following....
  7. The baseball tonight I recorded via DVR started way late(1:30 AM) so I only saw the Brewers and Mets highlights, didn't know about the ChiSox! Where oh where is Jazzypaul??? Kind of hard for me to root for the Twins or Sox. The Twins traded away Santana, and got less than they should have for him. Traded away Matt Garza. Amazing what they are doing, no doubt, but I feel like as always, they cry poor while drawing pretty well....imagine how different theirs and the Red Sox fate would be if they hadn't been so cheap as to release Ortiz many moons ago???
  8. Their win, and the Mets win, were something else! Not much of a Mutts fan, but I will feel sorry for them or the Brewers, whoever doesn't make it. \ Oh, and for those that think closers are meaningless, I heard Gammons say(Via info from Bill James and Starks) that if the Mets games all ended after 8 innings, they would have a 7 1/2 game lead in the east.... Dan, I am wondering about the rain. They may have to cancel a game or two, and play double headers. MLB can screw around the Astros, but they can't do the same thing to the Mets and have them lose because Santana or someone else hurt themselves in a downpour....
  9. Noj/Jon(I shall never admit how long it took me to figure out what Noj was! ) Congrats! It sure looked like a longshot a few months back. AZ was the best team in baseball after May....
  10. I'm happy to say I am with you 100 percent on this one. The most annoying piece of machinery ever invented. A special place in hell awaits the bastard that came up with this freakin' contraption. I have a rechargeable leaf blower, and it seems to be much less noisy, more like a vacuum....
  11. Sorry, but the checks bounced the last two days!
  12. NOW called, they would like your home address!
  13. PETA Urges Ben & Jerry's To Use Human Milk http://www.wnbc.com/news/17539627/detail.html
  14. What, no one has mentioned the 3 security strips on DVD cases??? Like one under the plastic wrap isn't enough???? And those ads during programs...I need to tell AMC I will never purchase(or Watch for that matter) Mad Men. Any time I flip by AMC, and they actually have a movie on instead of a commerical(for Mad Men) there is a pop up ad for Mad Men, best show on TV!!! I don't care if it is, fuck 'em.
  15. I wish Dave James had never thought to add "up over and out" on each of his postings... You know, I wish he hadn't either, but I know him quite well and he's a HUGE Hank Mobley fan. As he tells it, and I would take this with a grain of salt, ending each of his posts with the phrase "Up over and out", is his way of acknowledging Mobley by employing the title of one of Hank's songs as his out chorus. I'll talk to him about this. Up over and out. Nah, keep it, it's you.... 4 dots, so I know Moose wasn't talkin' about me!
  16. And those stickers plastered all over Columbia/Legacy's cd's. Those big square yellow ones in particular (those gold Miles stickers are ok to get off) whose glue comes right off the sticker and stays on the jewel case-WHAT A PAIN IN THE ASS TO GET THAT FRICKIN' GLUE OFF THE CASE I've stopped trying to peel those stickers off. Easier just to buy a box full of empty jewel cases and move the booklets, covers, disc, etc., into those. That's wasteful! You must hate mother earth!!!!
  17. Man, I knew you AL east teams didn't pay much attention to the NL, but to not even know about your AL brothers!
  18. You should have told her not to keep the info from you!
  19. Some amazing, amazing photos of the damage caused from Haiti on west.... http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2008/09/t...ul_life_of.html
  20. Don't you mean "hallowed" ground? Or were you referring to the new stadium? Ha! I am just a lousee speeler. In fact, when I typed "hollowed ground", it looked wrong(and I may not know the correct way to spell a word, but I do know when it's wrong) so, I put hollowed ground in a google search, and there where sites called hollowed ground....so I must have been right!!!
  21. So would just about any team in baseball!
  22. Kinda creepy at the same time. Where's it's head??? Why does it buzz like a bee??? http://www.bostondynamics.com/content/sec.php?section=BigDog
  23. I'm going to stand by that gutsy choice! Congrats Paps! Now, get some fans in those seats, will ya??? Going to see some games???? Oh, I see searching for this post, that It Should be You predicted they would get in the playoffs via the wildcard, so pretty good to be that close to the truth!
  24. Shoot, all the history in Yankee stadium, I will hope they win the last game there. It's where Ruth, Gehrig, Dimaggio, Mantle, and so many more played. It's hollowed ground, to this baseball fan. The new stadium will just be a new stadium....
