He's not gay. It is pretty obvious from the look on his face that someone left his cake out in the rain!

Jeez, for a brief second I thought I was going to be watching the Tribe tonight.... But as Elvis sings "I Forgot to Remember to Forget"
-
Great summary - thanks for sharing and helping us relive the moments!!!!!!!!!

Goodspeak was rooting for the Sox, but now he wants the Rockies, right? Don't forget that the NL West is the premier division in Baseball. So I guess you guys had a brief moment of friendship.
-
Dan Congratulations and thanks for the kind words. I could argue some of the calls and how much it might have affected the outcome but that would be sour grapes and given the rather wide run differential the bottom line is that a different Tribe team showed up for the last 3 games and so the Red Sox clearly dominated and clearly deserve to represent the AL in the World Series. Best of Luck. Now does this mean you and Goodspeak are pals? Something positive out of tragedy.

So! How stOOpid was I, Tribe fans? Uh....Paging Skeith. Well to repeat, Cleveland beat the Yanks when you said they wouldn't. And in the ALCS Cleveland won 3 games, when you said they would win 1, that makes you 300% wrong

I'm on suicide watch :( :( :(

Totally disagree, while that third album has a few good tunes, I think that Rick Roberts's voice, while maybe technically better than Gram's, is just too generic and a whole lot less compelling. Give me Gram's imperfect voice any day. I also think the album is just a bit too polished and prefer the overall sound on Gilded Palace - which is the best, in my opinion. Finally, I like from the third album the White Line Fever and To Romona covers, but songs like Four Days of Rain, All Alone, Hand to Mouth - I find these borderline easy listening Doobie Brothers material - unlistenable to me. Just my two cents. Fair enough. But it's those songs - Four Days of Rain, All Alone, Hand to Mouth (with Earl Ball's piano), et al - that make the album so appealing for me. I'm no real big fan of the Roberts pipes, but I think it's that generic aspect that makes for a more unified, organic sound for me. The earlier albums and Sweetheart may be more brilliant, but to my ears they're a matter of "rockers playing country". That third album is "country rock", and thus a more satisfying and rewarding outing for my listening purposes and pleaure. But then again, I'm a fella who believes the first two Pure Prairie League album ace EVERYONE for being the best two country rock albums. EVER. They were rightfully reunited on a single CD that was released a while ago. Brilliant. I suspect 'Mericans have baggage with the PPL, coz Amie just goes round and round and round. If I, too, was over exposed to that song, then I, too, might roll my eyes at mention of the band. As it is, their music continjues to come to me through a sense of wonder of a NZ schoolboy! It was all donwhill from there, but those two albums? Mighty. Listening again - I think the best original song on the third Burritos was "Colorado" - that's a great song. The worst "Why are you crying" The other thing about that album I don't like is that Sneeky Pete seems more restrained than on the first two and I love SNeeky Pete.

very far off from your prediction of Boston in 5. We'll talk again Saturday.

Of course it ain't over. However you're the one with the reality problem dude. You said the Indians would never get past the Yanks- then the Indians massacred them. You said Boston in 5, and with the Tribe up 3-1 ,you still think Boston is going to win even though one of their key players (Manny) doesn't care whether they win or not. What does that say about YOUR grip on reality? We did not say we have a lock, but it sure as hell is looking good - we only need one and have won the last 3. At least on this board, more Red Sox fans seems to be saying it is over than Tribe fans. In your Indians predictions, you are batting a whopping 0.
-
I thought it was 'til the Fat Man pitches? but... Yeah and I read this too and his other comments, so if Manny really feels that way and doesn't care, fine - great attitude.

Another brilliant prediction!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And so....I would be batting well over .500 at this point. My prediction supports a Red Sox victory and the Rockies have already won the NLCS. If I was a baseball player, I'd be making millions of dollars right now. Well are you still believing in a Red Sox victory? I take your point about batting over .500 - BUT it is one thing to predict a Red Sox victory, but you said in 5 games. Now it looks possible it may be Tribe in 5 - so one might say that when you are wrong, you are REALLY wrong, as in WAY OFF. You also predicted an easy Yanks victory in the ALDS - that was WAY OFF. Bottom Line : Don't mess with Cleveland!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You learned nothing from the ALDS? ANd if we get there, we do not fear in the least the Colorado Rockies.
-
OK, I"ll brag a little bit. I think that Wedge is making all the right decisions and the Tribe is hot.
-
I am not rubbing it in on Dan. We Tribe fans know his pain and he has been very gracious in his comments about the Tribe.
-
I am late to read this thread, but want to say I am very sorry it has happened to you.
-
Another brilliant prediction!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Isn't that music coming from the Stadium not Fox? That's what I heard at the Jake the last time I went.
-
That Tribe victory was sweet and what a game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Patrick, I think you are expressing what I have been trying to get at, but you have said it better.

the Giants? the Dodgers? both teams with Big time losing records. The two top teams in the AL Central have better records than the D'backs and Rockies. So educate me. What I can't comprehend is why Goodspeak thinks its impressive when your prognostication takes place after 5/6th of the season is gone. Is it more impressive to predict in March that the Brewers will be competitive in September, or is that prediction more impressive in August? How about predicting the Super Bowl matchup in August vs January? Maybe because one is a baseless guess and the other is a clear indiction. Who said it's impressive Dan....? Taking poetic license with the facts again? As to better records...the AL uses the DH. The NL bats the pitcher. AL generates more offense especially against NL teams, ergo the better records. Nuff said. End of comment. I have never understood this argument. That the AL generates more offense yes, but as for the Wins/Loss columns in the regular season, since NL teams mostly play other NL teams not sure how it affects wins/losses compared to the AL. While yes there is now interleague play during the regular season, but when that happens, doesn't the visiting team play by whatever the home team's league rule is on the DH - so then what would be the advantage to an AL team? The advantage comes three ways: #1 The AL will score more runs and thereby have an opportunity to beat more teams. #2 Since the NL pitcher bats for himself, the offense will suffer and more games are lost as a result. #3 The NL doesn't have a player whose only job is to hit and score runs....that makes him a hitting specialist: Advantage AL. It can also be argued that the NL is more competitive and therefore more games will be lost to stiffer competition. I get your points - however as I said before, since most of the regular season games are only AL vs. AL and NL vs. NL teams, I don't see how this has a big effect on your Win/Loss record for the regular season within your League. Interleague play when AL team is in NL park, AL can not use DH. THose few games where NL plays in AL park, then NL unaccustomed to DH may be at slight disadvantage.
