  1. I acquire every Phil Nimmons recording that I can get hold off. Was listening to this one recently (made when Phil was a young 78). It's not only a fine showcase for Phil's clarinet playing and compositions, but also for the excellent pianist Gary Williamson who passed away recently in his early 70's. (Liner notes by Ted O'Reilly BTW)

  3. It hardly deserves to be called a Jazz Festival, IMO.
  4. There are many fine sessions on Arbors. This is one of my favorites. Very fine recording.
  5. Thanks for drawing this to our attention. I will listen to the track shortly. Actually Eric has recorded in a trio context before. I just listened to this one yesterday. It is excellent. I don't know whether or not High Note has dropped him. Perhaps. I'm a big fan but I think Eric went to the well a little too often with the quartet format on High Note. Generally the same personnel. Probably should have changed it up a bit. But that can also be a producer's decision, I guess.
