  1. Listened through the Bill Evans 9 CD Fantasy set this week: 2 tracks really stood out for me (out of so many great tracks) "Bass Face" from and "Eiderdown" from I'd forgotten how good both these albums are; especially the latter which has outstanding playing from both Warne and Lee.
  2. I couldn't really answer Clifford Thornton's question about it. I have the U.S. AudioFidelity LP (bought years ago as a cut-out). Really glad I kept it.
  3. "Stuffy" from this wonderful record. Hawk is in exuberant form on this track, and the "Three Bosses" rhythm section (Powell, Pettiford and Clarke) is excellent on the tracks with Hawk and on the five trio tracks as well. I hadn't listened to this one for some years, but it's one of the best records I've heard recently.
  4. Bill Kirchner Nonet - Infant Eyes (Sea Breeze) - no image found
  5. (even Ebony Concerto sounds OK )
  6. Kind of surprised about the customs charge, Ted. I haven't bought a Mosaic set for nearly 2 years because of the sad state of the Canadian $. But it's very rare that I've been dinged. Plus Mosaic usually (at least they used to ) "undervalues" sets on the customs tag, so that even if you did get charged it wouldn't be for too much. But in my experience the cost they show is so low that the P.O. says, "Too small to worry about." and let's it through without a charge. But as I say, maybe things have changed in the last couple of years.
