Obscure perhaps but excellent.

I don't know why this is, but Benny Green seems to have a different facial look on every release. He looks rather sickly here. Or maybe the photo was taken at 8 a.m. after finishing a gig at 2 a.m.

Now:

Disc 1 - Brilliant Corners and Way Out West

I haven't purchased them all by any means, but I think the recent "Behind the Dikes" is very good. Really fine sound quality. True there's a lot of them, and I am heartened by the fact that Evans' family is benefitting from them. I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing that the family financial situation was not the most stable when he was alive.

Now:

I read my own comments at least, and was a bit surprised that I expressed some mild criticism of Eric Alexander's playing. I take it back. No issues whatsoever. Excellent player. This is a relatively early Alexander record but I think it stands up as one of his best: Here is one of Scott's best IMHO And I agree with the very positive assessment of this Grant Stewart CD

Now: In one way or another I've been listening to a lot of Dameron lately. Five of the eight tracks on this CD are Dameron compositions.

By my count, the Dave McMurdo Jazz Orchestra made 6 recordings, 3 of them double CD sets. I have them all.

Now: A very good record, indeed.
