Marc Johnson's Right Brain Patrol - Magic Labyrinth (JMT, 1995)

It's a solid date. However, I'd recommend Byard's first collaboration with Michael Marcus, This Happening (1997), over Involution. The earlier album is a piano-sax duo, and they seem less constrained on that session. I kept hoping that they'd let loose a bit more on Involution. But they rarely did, and I find it strangely sedate.

In what sense, soulpope? Did the concert & recording create a big splash -- and lead to him becoming more well-known & highly regarded? What do you think of this album, Peter? I always enjoy Vásáry's playing. So soulful and poetic. But I was unaware that he'd recorded for Collins.
