Dan Quinn's wretched defense for the Cowboys today took me back to his days as the head coach here in Atlanta. At their best, Quinn's defenses in ATL were adequate. At their worst, they were bad enough to blow a 28-3 lead in the Super Bowl. I'm still amazed that other teams are considering him as a potential head coach.

Valerie Simpson - Exposed (Tamla, 1971) I've been streaming this album -- Simpson's solo debut -- over-and-over-again lately. It's terrific, SUPER soulful. Today, I ordered the LP off Discogs. I'm looking forward to hearing it in higher fidelity. Thanks again to @JSngry for the recommendation.

A fantastic Afro-Latin jazz release from last year.

Brahms: Piano Works / Peter Rösel (Edel, originally Eterna) Disc 1: Piano Sonata No. 1, Op. 1; Six Piano Pieces, Op. 118 Rösel is one of the finest interpreters of Brahms' piano music that I've ever heard, and this set is a treasure. . . . I love how this first disc is programmed; it leaps from Brahms' first work to his penultimate composition, Alpha to Omega (almost).

Oh yes.

That's probably what I'm going to do too. But I will admit that the vinyl is darn tempting. For albums with a special place in my personal pantheon -- like Power to the People -- having them in two formats is nice. An indulgence, yes. But still nice. If Craft reissues Joe Hen's Multiple, I will definitely get it on vinyl -- despite already having the music in the CD box set. Because that album is even more special to me. Same with Canyon Lady. In my book, they're the two "crowns" of his Milestone years.

Funny how at the beginning of the thread people were looking for Power to the People on CD. Now, it's being reissued on vinyl. What's old is new again.

Now: Earlier: Two excellent albums originally released on Jazzcraft -- and then subsequently reissued on Storyville (and, more recently, Solid).
