  1. I ordered two LPs from Dusty Groove today: Music on Vinyl (NL), 180 gm reissue Elemental (ES), 180 gm reissue
  2. Released on Musica Records, FR
  3. Now: Red Norvo Combo - Vibes a la Red (Famous Door, rec. 1974/75) I'm especially partial to Side A of this album. Hearing Norvo play with Papa Jo Jones is a gas!
  4. ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ! ! !
  5. Another album from Detroit's Tribe label/organization: Harold McKinney - Voices & Rhythms of The Creative Profile (Tribe, 1974)
  6. Now streaming this: Marcus Belgrave - Gemini II (Tribe, 1974) Earlier this AM: CD compiles both Bolivia and Under Fire. For me, a desert-island disc.
  7. Now: The Visitors - In My Youth (Muse, 1973) Earlier:
  8. Masahiko Togashi & Richie Beirach - Freedom Joy (Trial Records JP, 1998)
  9. Hawk does NOT look pleased. That's an "eat shit, MFer"-look if I ever saw it. I wish Jeff was still active on the forum.
  10. Now: You cannot go wrong with Sir Roland !!!
  11. More Carol Sloane: Carol Sloane - Something Cool (Choice, 1978) originally released on vinyl as Cottontail
  12. Now streaming via YT: Carol Sloane with Roland Hanna & George Mraz - Spring Is Here, Take 2 (LOB JP, 1977) There are some lovely remembrances of Carol Sloane, who died last month, in the March edition The New York City Jazz Record. Well worth a look. Incidentally, the same edition of the NYCJR also includes an excellent review of the new book by Dave Liebman & Richie Beirach by our forum's own @Ken Dryden.
  13. I love that Adderley date! Totally agree. It's one of Cannonball's best Riversides -- probably my favorite. Wynton Kelly lifts everyone's game.
  14. I like Perdomo's playing very much. Seeing his name in the line-up is always a plus in my mind.
  15. A double-dose of Gunter Hampel. Now: and queued up for next:
  16. Very beautiful.
  17. Etta Jones - If You Could See Me Now (Muse, 1979) and Stanley Turrentine - West Side Highway (Fantasy, 1978)
  18. More Steve Kuhn: with Steve Slagle (as, ss, fl), Harvie S (b), and Michael Smith (d)
  19. Speaking of great records . . .
