  5. So true. It would almost be easier if he wasn't so consistently excellent.
  6. Back on my turntable again: So good.
  7. Lee Konitz with Alan Broadbent - Live - Lee (Milestone, 2003)
  8. I'm unfamiliar with these records, Jon. I'll give 'em a listen. Welcome to the forum.
  9. Now: I dig Alan Broadbent. He does subtle but nifty harmonic things that remind me of Jimmy Rowles.
  10. NP: Betty Carter - Whatever Happened to Love? (Bet-Car, 1982) Tremendous.
  11. Now on my 'table: Louis Armstrong - Satchmo Plays King Oliver (Audio Fidelity, 1960) Hooray for Pops!
  12. Christmas in April!
  13. My approach to culling music from my collection: If there's ANY doubt, keep it !!! Exactly.
  14. Vic Juris - Music of Alec Wilder (Double-Time, 1996)
  15. Jackie & Roy ‎- We've Got It: The Music of Cy Coleman (Discovery, 1984)
  16. Carol Sloane - Sophisticated Lady (Audiophile/Trio Japan, 1977) with the NY Jazz Quartet (minus Frank Wess): Roland Hanna, George Mraz, and Richard Pratt
  17. This again: Mark Murphy Sings Nat King Cole ...and More (32 Jazz/Muse) Disc 2
  18. I love Dexter's 1974-76 run of recordings for SteepleChase. A purple patch, for sure.
  19. Clifford, Generally speaking, I prefer Hawes' music after he was released from prison, rather than before. If you haven't heard them already, I would recommend these two albums: - Blues for Bud (Black Lion) - Hamp's Piano (MPS) Both were recorded in Europe while Hawes was on tour there.
  20. Now spinning this new-to-me LP: As Time Goes By: Carmen McRae Alone, Live at The Dug (Catalyst/Victor Japan, rec. 1973)
