I think Pepper may have made a record with Levy for the Japanese Atlas label, one of those records that couldn't be released in Pepper's name because he was signed exclusively to Galaxy. ... Don't recall for sure though. (And if they did, I don't have the record.) It does seem like Pepper and Levy would've made a very natural pairing.

Fully agree with you, Larry. I think Ormandy was a very convincing conductor of Sibelius' music. Another example: Ormandy's recording of Sibelius' VC with Oistrakh is one of my favorite recordings of this work.

NP: Al Grey / Jimmy Forrest - O.D. (Out 'Dere) (Greyforrest, 1980) with Don Patterson on organ The Magnificent Goldberg hipped me to this LP. It was on one of his lists of Soul Jazz favorites.

Sonny Stitt - Sonny's Back (Muse, 1980) Another terrific Sonny Stitt - Barry Harris collaboration. Meat and potatoes? Yes. Delicious? Yes.

Good deal. I'm glad. Euclid actually has a store in New Orleans too. The URL for their Discogs storefront is https://www.discogs.com/seller/EuclidRecordsNOLA/profile It's a MUCH smaller online shop, compared to St. Louis, with less than 100 jazz records listed. I don't think I've ever ordered online from the N.O. location -- but I have gone to the store when vacationing down there. It's well worth a visit. They've got TONS more inventory in the shop than they have listed on Discogs. No idea why that is.

Brazilian music for me too: Hermeto Pascoal & Grupo - Só Não Toca Quem Não Quer (Only If You Don't Want It, You Can't Do It) (Som Da Gente/Capitol/Intuition) Strange and wonderful. Listening to this, it isn't hard to understand why Hermeto is known as o Bruxo -- the Sorcerer.

Next up: Sonny Rollins + 3 (Milestone) Love that gruffness and grit in Sonny's sound !!!

Euclid Records in St. Louis is an excellent store. They don't have the write-ups like Dusty Groove. But their selection is very good -- maybe even better than DG's -- and their prices are reasonable. But, like Niko says, I probably buy more records -- both CDs and vinyl -- off Discogs than any other single online store. If you're like me, you'll likely end up finding Discogs sellers that you like and checking in with them often.

You are absolutely correct. Both of them are wonderful. I was only making a silly joke over nothing.
