  1. I just ordered this LP from Dusty Groove: Miyazawa Akira Quartet ‎- 木曽 = Kiso (Victor JP, rec. 1970) with Masahiko Sato (p), Yasuo Arakawa (b), and Takeo Moriyama (d) I discovered this astonishing album a few years ago via YouTube. I can't wait to hear it in high fidelity.

  3. Hampton Hawes - Blues for Bud (Black Lion, rec. 1968) with Jimmy Woode and Art Taylor
  4. It's fun to hear these Lloyd compositions -- some of which he's still playing today -- in their nascent form. It's also clear that Lloyd was still working on finding his own voice on the tenor at this point. OTOH, his flute playing seems more fully individualized.
