  1. How interesting! For whom are you preparing the lecture, mike?
  2. Now listening to Shostakovich's Fourth Symphony, as heard in this 2-LP set: Like the DSCH albums above, this music originally was recorded for Melodiya in the Soviet Union and then subsequently licensed for release in the U.S.
  3. Now on my turntable: A shattering performance. . . A desert-island DSCH disc.
  4. One of Shorter's finest hours, IMO.
  5. Spinning this again: Just recently added this LP to my collection.
  6. André Jolivet (composer and conductor) with the Orchestre Philharmonique de l'O.R.T.F.: - Concerto For Ondes Martenot (with Jeanne Loriod) - Concerto For Harp (with Lily Laskine) Originally released on Erato in 1970, as shown below:
  7. Prompted by @Peter Friedman, I'm giving this a listen too:
  8. And one more Bruce Forman LP featuring Bobby Hutcherson:
  9. I have it. Sounds OK to me. Comparatively speaking, I've heard plenty of records with much more heavy-handed filtration. OTOH, my 50-something year old ears ain't what they used to be . . .
  10. Another LP by Bruce Forman: The special guest is Bobby Hutcherson.
  11. Now playing: Love that singular sound of Johnny Hodges' saxophone. Best wishes for a very happy and prosperous 2025 to everyone on this forum.
