  1. Enjoyable. Nothing earth-shattering. But very good.
  2. Same here. I like Night of the Mark VII even more than GBG.
  3. It is. Now playing:
  4. This again: Dave Liebman horning in on Steve Lacy territory with an album of Monk tunes.
  5. Mahler's Fifth Symphony performed by Bernstein and the VPO, as heard in this set:
  6. Next up: Marty Ehrlich - Line On Love (Palmetto, 2003) with Craig Taborn, Michael Formanek, and Billy Drummond
  7. More Duke: Terrific set!
  8. NP: Disc 2 - selections by the 1947-52 band
  9. Now on my turntable: A desert-island disc.
  10. Yes, Dutoit's Ravel recordings are amazing. Top-shelf sonically, too.
  11. Brilliant! I'd heard a bunch of Ellington -- but the stuff that made the EKE light bulb come on for me was the late-30s band. Particularly music from 1937: "Azure," "Solitude," "Caravan," and other cuts.
  12. Now spinning: The Bruce Forman Quartet - Pardon Me! (Concord, 1989) with Billy Childs, Jeff Carney, and Eddie Marshall
