Mosaic Select: Pacific Jazz Piano Trios (MS-019)
"The six tracks that represent virtually the entire legacy of Richard Twardzik as leader are of special interest, but the set succeeds on the strength of the contributions of Freeman and Fischer." - Duck Baker, Coda
There's a SEALED box set for $36 (taxes included) at Record Surplus, Los Angeles.

I'm interested to see how it will be packaged. But who is going to buy this thing, really? Not casual fans, not the hardcore fans.
The Library.
I'd pay $100 for a USED set.
-
The jazz sales are probably influenced by releases by Kenny G, Harry Connick Jr, so some other soft jazz artist. (Norah Jones?) The Mosaic sets or Blue Note re-issues might not make a dent. Ken Burns jazz series helped boost jazz sales for awhile.

Gee, just what I want to do. Drive 90+ miles to find a Borders store and then walk out empty handed. My previous experience with their stores includes high prices and ROTTEN selection in their jazz CD section.
You can check their website for inventory.

Seems like everyone bought the LP box set for $25 or less. (years ago) So to buy the Mosaic set for $80 something, seems alittle steep.

I was at a FYE store in Monrovia, CA and while buying some jazz, the guy mentioned that someone brought a large 1500 unit collection in for sale. The clerk said that most of the jazz was sent to the Palm Springs FYE store. So if anybody is nearby, they might want to check out FYE. Currently, there is 20% sale on used CD/DVDs (if you buy 2 or more) There might be Mosaic box sets too.

Albany Leon Bigard[1] (March 3, 1906 – June 27, 1980), aka Barney Bigard, was an American jazz clarinetist and tenor saxophonist, though primarily known for the clarinet.
Bigard was born in New Orleans and studied music and clarinet with Lorenzo Tio. He moved to Chicago in the early 1920s, where he worked with Joe "King" Oliver and others. During this period, much of his recording with Oliver and others, including clarinetist Johnny Dodds, was on tenor saxophone, an instrument he played often with great lyricism, as on Oliver's hit recording of "Someday Sweetheart".
In 1927 he joined Duke Ellington's band in New York, where he stayed until 1942. With Ellington, he was the featured clarinet soloist, while also doing some section work on tenor.
After leaving Ellington, he moved to Los Angeles, California and did sound track work, including an onscreen featured role with an allstar band led by Louis Armstrong in the 1946 film New Orleans.
He began working with trombonist Kid Ory's band during the late 1940s, and later worked with Louis Armstrong's touring band, the All Stars, and others. He died in Culver City, California.
Bigard wrote an autobiography entitled With Louis and The Duke, and he is credited as composer or co-composer on several numbers, notably the Ellington standard "Mood Indigo".
Miles Davis Complete Columbia USB Advance

I love the seller's ebay name: jazzisgood4u
Too bad the USB is only a sampler of the Complete Miles box set. It would have been better to have the complete set on the USB. (shaped like a trumpet, of course)
