it looks like this latest coupon is only good for in-store purchases. given their dismal jazz stock, i only use coupons that can be used on borders.com.
Not just jazz stock. At the downtown Border's in Portland, there's almost nothing left of any genre. It looks to me like they're getting out of the CD business entirely and that this sale is a way of moving their remaining stock out the door in a hurry. So be it. I did pick up the Weather Report CD/DVD combo called Forecast Tomorrow for under $30.00 with the coupon which seems like a pretty good deal. That will very likely be the last CD I ever buy from them.
Up over and out.
The Weather Report CD/DVD box set is available thru Amazon for about $30

Deepdiscount also lists some of the big box Mosaics;
Ellington
Chu Berry $85
Quincy Jones $65
Columbia Small Group box
Lou Donaldson
Also some BEAR FAMILY box sets are discounted.
The DVD sale was 25% this year. Maybe sales are slow all over the place. (Mosaic included)

I always see a FREE jazz monthly newspaper at Record Surplus that covers the Los Angeles area.

Comparing academic salaries to entertainment salaries (coaches).
Why not compare academic salaries to the service industry salaries.
Another self serving study.
Most people with grad degrees are in the top 5% income level.

So you're posting about a guy who hasn't been here in 3 years.... I don't think he cares and if you really care about him, email him directly.

I have an extra INTUITION, but I don't see anything on your list that I don't have.

What would the surgery cost in India? I heard the costs are usually about 1/3 or less than the USA. They also speak English. Course, you have to stay over in India for awhile afterwards, post surgery. Which is still pretty cheap, but not home.

Adam Dunn traded to the Diamondbacks! I guess they felt they had to do something to try to counteract the Manny trade, but he ain't no Manny. Perhaps having the lowly, sickly braves take 3 of 4 had something to do with it....
Yeah, he might not be Manny, but he's better than Andruw Jones? The Dodgers don't have a closer (he's hurt). And are wasting a spot with Andruw Jones. Then they can't think, so the guys get throw out running bases. The Dodger will finish at .500. Diamondbacks should be alittle better than .500, with or without Adam Dunn. Course, we can always root for Colorado to win their last 21 games and pass everybody up.

If you live in a big city, just have a garage sale.
If you're lazy, sell to a large used record store.
If you rather spend your last dying days, selling records/CD and dealing with the public, instead of listening to music or buying more music. Sell thru ebay or swap meets.

Looks like the recent Art Farmer Blue Note re-issue is coming to BMG/yourmusic. (probably a month?)

Interesting, this CD is available only thru the Nelson Riddle Estate.

Thanks for the Buddy Defranco info. I'll always buy his CDs.

Didn't Boston used to have a mainly WHITE team?
Now, are there any WHITEs on the team?

Okay, I just listened to "the hit" and had two thoughts.
1. How in the hell did this become a hit in the first place?
2. I think I'll pass...it sounds like a jazzier version of Uriah Heep.
Yeah, tell these guys.
-
Chase's "Get It On" did not sound all that unusual on AM radio when it was released, as I recall. It was a time when just about anything could become a hit. Pop radio was not segmented like it is today. Soul classics and rock and roll songs, bubble gum and light pop, country crossover and even an occasional jazz song, were all mixed together on the charts played by every radio station in the U.S.
I think that Chase gained some benefit there from the hit singles of Blood Sweat & Tears and Chicago in the two years or so before.
I think there was a group call LIGHTHOUSE too. Can't remember their hit.
-
Guess he didn't see the New Releases section.
I like Dr. Michael White, so thanks for the info. But I'll probably buy it second hand for about $5.
-
"Open Up Wide" is a great song! I think "Get It On" had some pop airplay. Bill Chase played with Woody Herman.
The ONE WAY CDs were OOP and rare. At $14.99, this set is a bargain.
Mega sale on select Mosaics!!!
