  1. This all came out of nowhere. I went to hear Jim & Joe play in the Lower East Side last month and Jim asked me to play on the 20th. A duo turned into a trio and then a quartet - suddenly I had a group playing my music. I supplied the tuning and the title, after we agreed that it should develop like a raga, it was a group effort. I think we'll have more recordings to hear in the weeks and months to come. Six weeks ago I didn't know if I'd ever get around to playing my music again, I certainly didn't expect to be playing it in a group so soon.
  2. It was OK. I think the last rehearsal was better. Joe didn't make it because he had a plumbing problem at his book store in the Hamptons out at the other end of Long Island. So we performed as a trio, two guitars and a zither. .
  3. It was a real nice gig in a dream venue. A concert, not entertainment...although it was very entertaining! ...

  7. Yes, that was it. Check that out...my cosmic zither player was working in the office there. He's out of work now.
  8. It sounds like there's some heavy promotion behind this disk. I'm curious...I play guitar, I like Monk. I should like this album.
  9. I tried to listen this morning, I don't hate it, but I don't love it. I'll try some other time. ...

  12. Yeah, I'm getting old...I start telling stores that don't really have anything to do with the original question. If I see any in the store, I'll try a set.
  13. I hope it wasn't anything bad!
  14. Of course, the original "illegal" Real Book had a bunch of ECM tunes like Metheny, Swallow & Jarrett, but I want more! There's a great idea for a legit book - the ECM Real Book.
  15. It might have looked strange on the video, but I don't think it's a big deal. If there was a long period where I didn't play, I'd leave the stage too, but generally I'm there because it's my own music. ...
  16. Probably a good idea. I think it would be cool if albums came with a chart for each tune too.
  17. What the fuck are you doing Allen?
  18. Happy Birthday Joel, I was busy at the time. ...
