  2. I got both of my knees banged up in playground incidents before I entered high school and have never had true "full functionality" in them since. I was totally mobile, just not..."fluidly" so. All was well until one morning two years ago when I went to get out of bed and could not stand up. Could not. Had to hold on to the nightstand and push myself up. I could walk once up, but once seated, had to have something to push against to get back up. After a day of this, I was thinking that dual knee replacements were inevitable. My wife, however, snuck out of the house and came back with a bottle of glucosamine/chondroitin supplements. I kid you not when I tell you that I began to feel some kind of healing process begin within minutes of the first dose, and in about 10 days I was back to my normal level of functionality (which still was not athletic or anything, but I could resume normal activity w/o having to think about it). I know the data on this stuff is inconclusive, and I suspect that when it does work, it works on a very specific set of conditions. I don't think it's a Miracle Cure-All or anything like that. What I can tell you is that it worked for me. I was having joint deterioration issues, and it stopped the deterioration and put things back like they were. I still take them everyday and have seen no further deterioration. Might work for you, might not. Can't hurt to try, though.
  3. True enough. But Darvish has also been displaying a change up that is more typical (i.e. - 85 mph or so). So the uncertainty factor for the hitter is just multiplied that much more. If you see one change-up enough, a good hitter can time it and do something with it (even if it's just fouling it off to stay alive in the count). But now you're looking at a guy who is becoming even more unpredictable in both what pitch he will throw and what speed he will throw it. Timing gets a little bit more complicated now, especially when you throw in some of those "gotta be an optical illusion" breaking balls he can throw. Darvish's big issue this year has been control, way too many walks, way to much falling behind in the count, way too much nibbling instead of going for the jugular. His last 5 starts or so, have seen a dramatic (and consistent) improvement in all of that, so it looks like he might have begun to get around that learning curve, in which case...really good things might be in store. Time will tell.
  4. There's a Rangers blog called Lone Star Ball that has members who create them and post them. It's certainly not a skill set that I possess, that's for sure! I just link to them here, since they're image formats which the board supports. The Darvish things, though, were done (or at least posted by) Jeff Sullivan @ Lookout Landing, a Mariners blog that's part of the whole SB Nation family/company/not sure what of sports blogs. Your Giants blog is called McCovey Chronicles.
  5. What does this mean?
  6. Ray Charles say he don't much particular care:
  7. Unlike the Monk/Nelson kind of wrongness? I love both Monk & Oliver, but Oliver jacked that one up royally, I'm afraid. Either way, I agree with you about this one. All wrong should end up this right!

  12. Who else is on it? Never heard of that one! FWIW, though, Brown was also on the Burton/Jarrett Atlantic side (always found that one to be a big letdown, although it was pretty popular in its day).
  13. I still have two of mine from significantly more than ten years ago. Carry them around in my travel kit for good luck, whatever that means. You probably don't want to see the. Wisdom teeth are pretty gnarly (in the older sense of the word) looking things.
  14. So it's like going into Baskin-Robbins wanting that 32nd flavor...
  15. Yep.It's very good, I think, although if you're not inclined toward "that type of thing", don't expect this one to be any different or to be a game-changer. But otherwise, buy with confidence.

  17. Yu Darvish pitch sequence from last night: 0-1, he throws this, clocked at 62 mph: and follows it with this, clocked at 94 mph : Some people were getting all hyped up and thinking that Darvish would not have a learning curve, and would come directly to MLB and Conquer The World. I was not one of them. But I was cautiously optimistic that between his talent and his seemingly superior "competitive drive" that he would eventually work/figure it out. Looks like he's in the process of doing just that. Yay!
  18. I gotta give infinite OSST (Oh Shit!!! Style Points) to Don Byas for the Cobra-Head Octave Key. Imagine being pissed of at things in general, drunk as hell, and staring at that thing for motivation/inspiration. You get on SOME kind of list for that, no question.
  19. Can't say that I've ever seen Hawk show an affinity for our four-legged frinds, though. As our awareness of the inter-connectivity of all Creation awakens and evolves, so should our ranking of saxophonists. Sonny Rollins, back in the conversation.
  20. A properly worn hat is important too, especially when holding court with the ladies. Ultimately, it ain't what you wear, but the way that you wear it. Although as with everything else, you want to always begin with the highest quality ingredients.
  21. I'd get so hung up on trying to determine whether or not the clothes on the cover were from the player's personal collection or something provided for the shoot that I'd never finish, much less get started. I will say this, though - Coleman Hawkins sure wore some badass suits in his day.
