  1. I'm still more or less ok with McCarver, but I'm really starting to think that the rumors that Joe Buck does not like baseball all that much are true.
  2. Pomplamoose Little Peggy March Gene Street
  3. Not the best player but the best name. Conrad Gozzo is OK name-wise, but he's no Lyman Vunk IMO. I mean if we didn't know Gozzo's playing, that might be the name of some lounge lizard with a pencil moustache, but Lyman Vunk has to be a guy who weighs at least 250 lbs. and has a neck as wide as his shoulders. I hear "Conrad" & I automatically think something like CONELRAD, high-pitched Cold War intensity (the few CONELARD broadcastas I heard as a kid scared the shit out of me, the sonic equivalent of getting hit in the head by a blunt object), and then "Gozzo" brings to mind "gonzo", off the chain crazymad, and to me, that combination pretty much sums up the sound of Conrad Gozzo to me. It took me a while to dig Gozzo, actually. That whole gonzo sound of his was not something to which I was intuitively attracted. But I got there.
  4. Ooooooooooooh. And Eeeeeeeeeeew. Well he scores some toughness points. It's not easy being left-handed vs. the Tigers in Arlington's park even when you're not needing to change your uni for those reasons. Official, non-tweet story: http://www.foxsports...054&feedID=9916 Also, this came out in early September. Seems that Colby Lewis has been battling hip pain most of the season, which explains any number of things: http://espn.go.com/b...s-quality-start That's the Inner Colby Lewis like none other!
  5. Yeah, looks like he got arthurytee all up and down his spine cord!
  6. A reputable local reporter has tweeted (or so I'm hearing, I don't tweet, myself) that Derek Holland was still recovering from food poisoning tonight, thus the "uniform change" that caused the delay with the team taking the field. Been soaking up all the DVR-ed post-game comments, and what really comes through is that Jim Leyland is a totally class act. I really see now why Wash has always had nothing but the highest praise for him. And now, I ask you this - who, at this moment, is the luckiest man in Major League Baseball? Gotta be Arthur Rhodes. GOTSTA be Arthur Rhodes!
  7. Simply because there aren't that many people on Organissimo who are old enough to have heard that band? Stereojack perhaps. Who goes to strip joints and gin mills anyway?
  8. Posted on Lone Star Ball. Totally emo, but I succumb... Before there was Wash, there was Oates. And with Oates came the beginnings of hope.
  9. 15, yes. But 12, against these Tigers? Not so much. I swear, I was still nervous as hell until it went to 15. And even then... These Tigers...that's one tough group. Much respect for the Motor City from the Lone Star.
  10. Getting ready to get over to Academy to see try to get shirts at midnight (them big boy sizes go real quickly, I found out last year), so not a lot of time (or presence of mind!) right now, but hey - as a fan of baseball, just let me say that it was a true pleasure to watch Alex Avilla play for six games. This guy is one tough human being, and fullest love and props for how he represented the human spirit. If the need ever comes, I would be honored to have him on my team! Other than that...god, this team has been soooo inspiring this year., appearances to the casual observer to the contrary, nothing has come easy for this team this year, Big Al is right, they are the real deal...this might be the year...might not...I've never known the feeling of when it is, so we shall see...but this feeling here, I'm kinda liking it!
  11. Found him! That's AAA affiliate Round Rock Express manager Bobby Jones: Not to be confused with
  12. Promotional use of the word "Budweiser"!
  13. thanks for the wise words, jim. at a local level, that is most often the way it works. at the national level... As Tip O'Neal sagely observed, all politics are local...and never moreso than today, especially in this regard.
  14. I'd like to speak with somebody who saw him playing with that road band that him & Gene Ammons had.
  15. Dan Tucker Dan Blocker Jerry Kramer
  16. Circle-ring-ish-ness!
  17. Ursula Rucker Sam Drucker Ice Road Trucker
  18. Barbie Ken Skipper
  19. Fernando Lamas Lorenzo Lamas Dalai Lamas
  20. That chick from Father Knows Best, the oldest daughter...went on to be Andy Griffith's girlfriend before that school teacher lady took over. can't remember her name, but that's who she is.
  21. I tell you, the "movers and shakers" are easily thinking 5,10,15, even 20-30 years up the road & implementing strategies to move things along their way. I have "overheard" some things at certain gigs that would curdle your blood as to how manipulative they are (it's amazing how liquor and arrogance make people like musicians and other "help" invisible to certain people...like their words go no further than right in front of them). The most recent one was where "the red line" in Dallas was going to be in 2030, the "red line" being the dividing line between where white folk could safely avoid not being in the majority. These were real-estate people, not politicians, but to think that commerical & political concerns do not work off of each other would be abjectly naive. That's why getting indignant about something that's already happened is like trying to put Humpty-Dumpty back together again. It's all good and noble and "correct", but it's also....too late.
