Were all these cuts recorded at Newport, or at least a Newport Festival like Newport/New York?

Totally Badass Album Covers That Defy Easy Categorization

Looks like intestines, smells like perfume. Yeah. -
That one man can play so much music is at once inspiring and sobering. That anybody can put so much air through the horn to get a sound like that would make me ashamed of not taking better care of myself, except...not even people who do take care of themselves can do it. I mean, damn... Ain't none of the records come close to this, not even a little.

If anybody cares... http://rangersblog.d...-death-4th.html Among other things: A fund for the family is being set up; Hamilton will be given time off to grieve if he requests it, but it's entirely his & Wash's decision, so far, no indication that he won't continue to play; the man's son was able to ride to the hospital with his father, although not in the same vehicle; in addition to a moment of silence before the game tonight, players for both teams plan to wear black armbands in Stone's memory most ironic of all: I'm taking LTB out to the game tomorrow night, still looking forward to it, but... stuff happens, and it ain't always good, even at the ballpark. Everybody, please, be careful and pay attention. It ain't TV.

It was a "style point" decision made long ago & far away. -
It should be noted that, yes, Stone left fully conscious and able. He actually died of a heart attack while on the way to the hospital.

Last year. That guy lived and recovered w/o any lasting damage. This is two nights in a row that fans have been "at risk". Night before last, it was several fans (one a child, it looked like) getting hit by hard fouls because they weren't paying attention. If you're going to sit in the line of fire for gods sake, know what it is that you're sitting in the line of fire of. Baseballs are hard & they travel at high speeds. Go get one right now and tap it lightly on your forehead. It ain't soft, ya' know? Those good seats really are good seats, but please - pay attention! I'm thinking/hoping that Josh will come out of this ok. The organizational culture certainly appears to be one of mutual support, and this is definitely the time for that. Also as a man of faith, as he proclaims himself to be, this is a time for that faith to be put to use. I'd like to think that his support system in that realm will be there for him as well as the one in the clubhouse. During Nolan's statement last night, he paused when searching for a word to express the collective feeling about the incident, and he came up with "heavy-hearted". Yes.

Wouldn't you know it was Fred Dietz from somewhere in the email itself, either the display name, or the signature? If you're talking about in a personal drirectory, won't there always be a display name to look in? -

Ike Quebec's "Blue & Sentimental" AP hybrid SACD
JSngry replied to dreamcatcher_43's topic in Re-issues
hmmmm. I think you agree with me that jazz fans shouldn't feel "ambivalent" about arguably the greatest jazz label, but you're getting too philosophical and abstract for your own good. How you get any of that is beyond me (I mean, really, you tell me that you "think" I agree with something that I've explicitly said I don't agree with, at least not wholesale, and just how "philosophical" you have to get before you can get there, I don't know) how , but it just dawned who "EyeSpeech" is and why I had you blocked, so...my bad. Shoulda' respected the block. Really, my bad, completely. -

Just doing my duty as a conscientious citizen to encourage merit-based consumption rather than blind brand-loyalty. It's a good cause. Pretty sure Mr. Lion would approve, as he was up to the challenge his ownself. btw - neither Mr. Lion nor his estate have an ownership stake in Blue Note, so the notion that discouraging blind brand-loyalty somehow hurts or otherwise detracts from him or his legacy is pretty much exactly the type of irrational emo (sorry Cary) b.s. that creates the market for "Jazz As Holy Canon". Alfred Lion & Blue Note were great (when they were great, which was far more often than not) because they were people of substance who created product of substance, not because they were "Alfred Lion" or "Blue Note". Now that Lion's gone & BN's just another corporate nameplate (although a very real one, at least for now), we don't need "another Alfred Lion" or "another Blue Note", which is what too damn many people seem hellbent on providing us (or convincing us they are providing), or thinking that we really do need. We need more people and things becoming the first whatever they are instead of another what somebody else has already been. Substance does not come from re-presenting the past as "tribute". Substance comes from facing whatever eternal truths and temporal realities there are to be had and presenting them as they need to be heard in a way that they will be heard. Heard, not "listened to"! If there weren't so much damn stagnation and even regression in the music and the marketplace, hell, in the America character in general, I'd not be so damn pissed off about hero worship, especially for heroes I myself consider worthy. But there is, and I am. So whatever you get from digging on "Alfred Lion" and "Blue Note", hey good for you. Just don't think that you can keep it alive by "keeping it alive". -

Details, please! Where I've seen it has been in a self-contained corporate environment, and it looks just like another attempt to project (self)importance. But you're saying that if people do it in real life, there might be a practical reason? -

Probably, long haul, but I'm waiting for final proof. Those Coltrane boxes (along with their continued sponsorship of Paul McCartney) give me hope. -
