I read that it was Bell playing that really distinctive/aggressive CHANK on Dionne's "WalkOn By". I wonder if that was his idea or Burt's.?,?

Not crazy about Bobby Durham, but everybody else is aces in my hand.

Back then, all they had was vibrato, tremelo, and maybe a wah wah, so he probably combined them. He was an electronics wiz, so he could've invented his own thing.
People were running any damn thing through a Leslie that they could figure out a way to run through one. This sound of his seems to me to be very much rooted in a Leslie.
Vinnie Bell was the same guy who popularized (or did something with, maybe even invented?) the Coral electric sitar, right?
oh, look here: Help me figure out this famous but mysterious effect | The Gear Page
My dad used to be a big Vinnie Bell fan. The sound Vinnie is using is his Coral Sitar through a wah pedal and then some kind of rotary speaker effect combined with tape delay. Since he was making this sound before 1970, the rotary effect would most likely have been a Leslie or a Univibe, since electronic phasers didn't come around until the early 70's. The wah is rocked back on the attack of each note to give it the choked, drippy sound.

Those users have all been flagged as spammers, meaning that they won't be able to post anything else and their posts will be rendered hidden. Deleting them is something I don't have time do do right now, but will do after work today.
The problem is that this seems to be some kind of a bot-driven operation. As soon as one or two users are flagged, some new ones come along.
Further administrative action is needed.

I've been in communication with Jim A about the spam flood. He is now aware and is taking action. Also, I'm swatting them down as fast as I can, but a deeper action will need to be taken that only ownership has the tools to administer.
It's definitely a nuisance and diminishes the board experience for us all.

I'd like to get the recent spam riot under control before feeling good about donating directly through the board.

It sounds like there's a Leslie involved.
c/f the track "Pet Sounds" by the BB. Add a little/lot of extra reverb to that and maybe you get Vinnie Bell.
and once you get him, you can have him!

That Ronald Isley thing is deep....apparently those two did a whole PBS special, I see other excerpts on YouTube. Has the whole thing been made available commercially?

This one is simply a miracle...

especially with Dionne (who STILL does not get enough credit for doing what she did on all these records)
Let me get snooty-tooty and say that anybody who has more than a recreational interest in American Music (PERIOD!!!) has a gap in their knowledge unless and until they go through Bacharach. All of it, not just the hits. There's SO much "there" there.
Watch his countoff and move to the piano. One continuous fluid motion. The guy had a mojo like that.

Burt must have liked it, he kept it in. The guy had an ear for texture, it's fun to listen to the insides of his records
