  1. Yes, very much so Been kinda 'stuck' with CPE the last few days (especially with the Markovina set). Not a bad place to be! Now playing, Cello Concerto Wq 170 & 172 and Sinfonia 5 - Ophélie Gaillard. (Aparte)
  2. HutchFan, looking forward to this. Few of those are faves of mine as well, interested to read about the others. Also, wasn't aware of your Hutch discog posted above by Niko or the Ives!!
  3. C.P.E. Bach - Complete works for solo piano, vol.2 (Wq 49/112) (Ana-Marija Markovina)
  4. C.P.E. Bach - Symphonies (Café Zimmermann) (alpha)
  5. Thanks kinuta, much appreciated I just ordered a copy. Glad you mentioned Gillian Anderson. Otherwise wouldn't have imagined her as Lily Bart. But then, a while back I watched a BBC adaptation of Dickens' Bleak House and Anderson was great in that, so I'm not surprised she's excellent in House of Mirth. I have to confess that I've never watched the x-files, fwiw. Definitely agree about The Age of Innocence movie and I had read the book before watching it. The novel has many subtleties that I assumed would be discarded/overlooked for the screen but I was very surprised with how good the movie was/is. First saw it when it was released back in '93/94. Big favourite of mine (as is the novel) and I dislike most movie adaptations of 'classic' novels! Look forward to watching House of Mirth, thanks again for the comments. viewing tonight - speaking of book adaptations, I'll be watching The Leopard (1963). I've read Lampedusa's novel (Il Gattopardo) but only once and it was a long time ago so it's on my 'to re-read' list. Anyway never seen the movie, but I've heard good things about it. We'll see.
  6. Sofia Gubaidulina - Offertorium & Hommage a T.S. Eliot (Christine Whittlesey - soprano) (DG)
  7. How is this kinuta? I wasn't even aware that there was a movie made. The novel it's based on is superb!
  8. Yes indeed! Made time for nos. 3 & 4 as well, excellent set. Now playing Bruckner 8 - Simone Young / Philharmoniker Hamburg (Oehms). Don't often reach for this one - not sure why, as it's sounding pretty good right now!
  9. I've also been enjoying that set a quite a bit lately. Speaking of Panocha Quartet, now playing Martinu - String Quartet 5 from this set,

  13. Thanks. I hadn't noticed before that the 2LP set you mentioned has the complete Op.13, whereas my CD (and others I could locate on the 'net) have only the Minuetto included. There's certainly enough space on the cd. Anyway, gave it a couple of spins this weekend, very enjoyable, spirited performances!
