  1. a Special edition From the Los Angeles Jazz Institute We just announced a special Members Only CD collection to raise money for the Jazz Institute. It’s a multi-disc limited edition of only 100 sets. Over half are gone so act quickly if interested. The source material comes from the Howard Rumsey archive features all the music from the original Cecil Charles Spiller master tapes. As a surprise bonus, Don Dean was there that evening and recorded quite a bit of music that didn’t part of the the Spiller tapes. It’s as close as we can get to experiencing the excitement of a Sunday at the Lighthouse circa 1953! Announcing Our First Deluxe Members Only Collection The Complete Crazy Sunday at The Lighthouse featuring Howard Rumsey's Lighthouse All-Stars and Special Guests September 13, 1953 Close to 10 hours of music on a multi-disc collection plus booklet including rare photos and memorabilia September 13 was the first Sunday with the new group of All-Stars that had replaced Shorty Rogers, Jimmy Giuffre, Frank Patchen and Shelly Manne. The “new” All-Stars led by Howard Rumsey were: Rolf Ericson, Bud Shank Bob Cooper Claude Williamson Max Roach But that day was special and now legendary because several guests sat in including: Miles Davis Chet Baker Herb Geller Russ Freeman Jimmy Giuffre Lorraine Geller Shelly Manne Milt Bernhart Experience a full Sunday marathon jam session at the Lighthouse All but a little over an hour are unissued and uncirculated and will be heard here for the first time. Only 100 sets being produced which will all be numbered. It’s a true limited edition designed as a fundraiser for the Jazz Institute. $125 membership/donation

  12. These AVID compilations are always good in case you cant get the single vinyls. Have one with the Poll Winners Three and it sounds fine to me.

  15. On vinyl there are 2 volumes. This picture seems to be the Volume one I have. The act was managed in Koblenz by promotor Hans Rossbach (left). Here is a foto he let made when Kenny and Bud were there.
