Times are running fast. I myself am interested in those coverart threads if they are at least somewhat worthwile and fit to the music inside the cover. Have myself started such a one at SHF for the great graphic artist Dave Stone Martin (mostly on Norman Granz label covers) and plan to include also another another one with great artist like Paul Flora. More big names welcome! So the question to Mike is can we members hope that he will start (restart) this project again. I would like to add at least a new one myself after a recent little dicussion with a member. I do collectmostly jazz vinyls since the mit 1960s. Topic would be "Original paintings on cover" Here is an example: Cover painting by Justin Stone- LP rec. 1986

Yes have seen that. I do prefer to take scans only from my own collection. So I will check again what I do have and maybe open a new thread for paintings and/or special and well known artists from the graphic & drawing scene.. A little disadvantage is that all these threads are spread all over the place in "Micellaneous Music".

Ah yes & thanks for the link. I thought more about a general topic as Paintings and / or grphic art. I am wondering that no David Stone Martin or Jim Flora coverart threads have been created. Also original oil paintings have often appeared on west coast labels. There is still a lot to discover.

Bob Florence died much too early. I am a big band fan and have everything he cut on records and some unissued material he did here in Germany with the radio Frankfurt big band. He preferred to arrange longer tracks to give the artists solo space. For my taste he belongs to the top 2 or 3 West Coast big bands beside Bill Holmans orchestra and the Shorty Rogers Big Express. Can recommend also his album "Westlake" on Discovery/Trend (Albert Marx production).
