  3. Shouldn't it be the french who should be insulted by the sculpture....
  4. Top seed Ivanovic got dropped by french player Julie Coin. Only saw the third set, key moment was when at 2-2 Coin on her serve was struggling 0-40 but she survived and managed to hold on her serve. It kind of broken Ivanovic's spirit , she got broken easily on her serve and then it was a question of time. Coin will meet fellow french women Mauresmo in the third round , Cocorico !!!!
  5. So with Roger having the slump of his life, speculating on who's gonna win will be more fun this year... Watched the ceremony tonight, about 25 years ago who when i still was a skinny teenager, i was in love with georgous looking Gabriella Sabatini, not a teen anymore, not thin either but oh my, does Gaby still looks wonderful after all these years

  7. Saw a nice text by one of our finest writer in Montreal, i'll try to translate it to the best of my very limited knowledge. The example given are local based but the spirit of it is international. THE MIRACLE OF THE OLYMPIC GAMES. For starters, they are kids , your kids who are playing. Some of those kids show a talent that makes them graduate to the elite. The best of those elites go to the Olympics. In entering the elite , your kids are substituting their angelic values of their beginnings to those more rigourous of hard work, of performing. When they do arrive to the Olympics they get into contact with once again new values, most of the time those values are of pretentious gradiloquence. And too often the become uninteresting little jerks , without any culture, without any outlook on life. Sometimes they become a SME : trainers, agent, manager, psychotherapist etc. The miracle is that a few of them will go through all of it while still being true to their original nature. A Christine Girard, a Thomas Hall, the 8 guys who won the Gold in rowing, the young girls of synchronized swimming ... these people still allow us to still beleive in the Olympics. Thank You. Well, thank you monsieur Pierre Foglia. Merci.

  9. By the way, to answer the original question of this thread, 228 posts later , i think it proves that people still care about the Olympics. I don't give a hoot about the pageantry surrounding it but i still enjoy the thrill of a sporting competition, too bad that i had to limit myself to one sport.
  10. I have on my computer all the semi-finals from boxing, think i'll stop watching rhem, judging is a farce just saw Hernandez-Purevdorj, the fact that they ended up with the score tie was absurd and they all together recorded more landing blows by the counter-punching Mongolian than the offensive minded Cuban is a disgrace and an insult to theintelligence of boxing people.

  13. For those who were living in cave in the last 50 years or so, this is great music, unfortunately i've just bought it a few months ago
  14. Maybe it is a good thing , since the worth is more into the music by itself than the media, the first reason you should acquire a piece of recorded music is the music itself not whether it's an out of print pressing that makes speculators salivate.
  15. Thanks for the input, here goes the rent money...
  16. Amazon is selling the volume 2 for 71 bucks and you can get volume 3 with it for 150 $ Seems a good deal, since they are kind of rare to find. http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?ie=U...01&plpage=1 The Chet Baker set is not a bad price either. Thinking about getting the Atlantic set in the same package, what's the consensus about this one ? http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...ER&v=glance
  17. So, do i, gotta say i'm a big Dizzy fan, overall his music tends to excite me in a way that few other can acheive.
  18. Still regarding the boxing just watched the light welter semi between Dominican Diaz and Frenchman Vastine and it was a fucking disgrace , the official threw out the french trainer then he later gave a very harsh warning and two points away from the frenchmen and in the last round with the fight in the balance with less than thirty seconds for a not so clear reason he gave again a penality to the French fighter which gave the win to his opponent. The poor guy Vastine was crying like a baby after the fight.
  19. Bring the three three minutes round instead of a 4 round fight where the last one involves the leader running around. Instead of only giving points with judges hitting simultaneously their buttons, why don't they take a page out of diving, take the cumulative scores and take away the biggest and smallest score. No wonder, you rarely saw guys use their freakin' jab, judges never gave points for them
  20. Thanks i will check it out

  22. On which label it was done, never saw that one, being a big fan of pianist Pilc, curious to see them mesh together
  23. Currently playing this Another gem in his discography.
  24. I too often buy the same CD, especially labels that uses the same kind of covers, like ECM, Tzadik and since i'm poor at remembering titles or song titles. I've started carrying around a list with the titles i already own. Problems, i have not updated the list in a while , plus i have to do the search to figure out what is the equivalent of individual cds i have in boxsets. So i'm basically back to square one.
  25. I second this motion.
