  3. Little late seeing this thread but i saw them with Joe McPhee about two years ag, and they just fuckin, tore down the place apart, one of the most intense and fun gigs i've ever witnessed I have two records of them but none really carries the same weight than to see them live although this one does a fine job.
  4. Kenny G Kenny Loggins Kenny Rogers
  5. Among the gigs i attended the last few days, saw Michel Portal and Jackie Terrasson, nice good music, a little too mainstream for my tastes though. A lot more satisfying was the trio of Evan Parker, Barry Guy and Paul Lytton. Was mostly impressed by the technique of Barry Guy , almost stobocospic at times I know he has plenty of detractors here but i enjoyed the Vandermark set with Free Fall. In fact we had 4 mini gigs lasting around 25 minutes each. First Vandermark solo. Then the duo between Broo and the fantastic drummer that is Nilssen-Love. Then the main act and for desserts all the 5 guys played together on a few pieces . My dream gig would involve a duo between Guy and Nillson-Love it would be like watching a ballet
  6. Uri Caine Youri Djorkaeff Yuri Gargarin
  7. Amen. Rock may produce less iconic figures but it still produces worthwhile music today. Have ever wondered if the iconic heroes of yesteryears would have still been able to become those icons if they started today. Think the way music is produced , marketed and sold is somewhat diferent than today and the management of a career is a little bit tougher than it was in terms of artistic content. No Myspace music sensation back then to spin the world for a few weeks PS As a Montrealer , little ashamed to have not brought Arcade Fire into the interesting acts of today
  8. Gotta say overall the quality of the games has been pretty high, they were a few games that were really tedious , but for the most teams played with a positive spirrit. Kinda weird that during a competion where the unexpected was often au rendez-vous, we end up with a final that was somewhat predictable.
  9. Can't really comment a game i barely could see, but it seems that Germans outurked the Turks.
  10. Fuckin' power failures, did they ask Domenech to be in charge of that.
  11. Well despite that and the scoreline, Turkey got the edge in the first half, let's see if Germans can adapt in the second half
  12. Calexico played on the "I'm Not There" soundtrack (which has some KILLER performances on it, btw). I found them to be quite impressive and have been thinking of checking them out. Is "Feast of Wire" the best place to start? Yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
  13. Beware if you don't like jazz-with-strings, there's quite a lot of it. Generally it does bother me, but in this particular case i thought the strings fitted him well
  14. Robert Wyatt Kevin Ayers Daevid Allen

  16. Sam Rockwell Parker Posey Benicio del Toro Cast members of Basquiat

  18. A lot of drastic changes in this competition 10 mikeweil 2091 9 J Sngry 2182 8 Ghost of miles 2213 7 free for all 2325 6 Joe G 2343 5 Van Basten II 2427 4 Jim Alfredson 2481 3 7/4 2541 2 Chuck Nessa 2650 1 Marsupilami 6250 Out of the top ten are MG, Brownie and King Ubu. Chuck Nessa is getting popular big time moving up from 5th place to second place so is 7/4 who used to be 9th and is now in the top three. Marsupilame keeps attracting a lot of people though !
