  1. Be sure they are facing up (mark the box) and be sure they're packed tight. I moved 50+ wine boxes full of albums in a moving van several years ago and there were no issues. BTW, many wine boxes are just a centimeter or so too short in one dimension. You've got to test them out.
  2. Spencer-Hagen Orchestra - Essence of Romance - Liberty (turquoise mono)
  3. Art Blakey, Jazz Messengers, Thelonious Monk - Atlantic (stereo red & green label)
  4. Herbie Hancock - Takin' Off - Blue Note (stereo DMM pressing, played in mono for improved balance).
  5. What do you think of Tampa TP 21?
  6. Henry Mancini - Trail of the Pink Panther - Liberty Collection of music from "Trail" and other PP films.
  7. Horace Silver - Song for My Father - Blue Note (blue and white label, Liberty, stereo) Played in mono to improve the mix.
  8. Roland Shaw - Themes from the James Bond Thrillers Vol. 3 - London (red label mono) Roland Shaw does a great job with Barry's spy music!
  9. Bill Evans - Live at Montreux - Verve (stereo)
  10. George Shearing Quintet - Lullaby of Birdland - Verve (mono) Twofer compilation of MGM sides. Sound is WAY better than it is on those MGM LPs.
  11. I have a record by him on red vinyl that I like a lot, but I can't remember the title.
  12. I'm trying to play at least a gig a month. So far I'm good for February through July.
  13. Mike Pacheco - Bongo Session - Tampa TP 21 (mono) with Carlos Vidal and Shelly Manne
  14. Howard Roberts - Goodies - Capitol (rainbow stereo)
  15. Bill Perkins - Bossa Nova with Strings Attached - Liberty (mono)
  16. http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...=49118&st=0
  17. Gene Ammons - The Soulful Moods Of... Reissued as a part of a Prestige twofer "Gentle Jug."
  18. Get used to it!
  19. That's a really good one!
  20. George Shearing Quintet & Amigos - Continental Experience - MPS Quintet plus latin percussion, similar to his latin records on Capitol. Except that this is from 1975 and it's like the 60s never happened.
  21. Miklos Rozsa - Film Score Classics, conducted by Charles Gerhardt (RCA Red Seal) A great series in terms of performances, recordings and music selection; the Herrmann an Rozsa volumes are particularly wonderful.

  23. AFTER a day of work, I can listen to just about any genre of jazz I would listen to under any other circumstances. I'm much more selective about the music I have on when I'm at work.
  24. Any attempt to label a genre is limiting. Still, you need words and labels to have a conversation. I understand where people are coming from, but there is no magical answer.
  25. Chet Baker s/t - Pacific Jazz (Black label, mono). This may be a compilation. Quartet, sextet, and ensemble stuff, modern art on the cover.
