  1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkGAEJ3TJao Most everything else on youtube is either the pop stuff or the dreaded "Blinded by the Light."
  2. I have found "Soul of Mann" - which was actually an album and not a collection - on CD. I used to have this on cassette, glad it's out there. I forgot about "Up the Junction" - that is on CD too. Regarding "Down the Road Apiece" - What percentage of that stuff is groovy jazzy instrumental stuff, as compared to "Do Wah Diddy?" Not that there is anything wrong with the pop stuff, it's just not what I'm looking for right now.
  3. Yes, but not exclusively. Thanks all for the replies - I'll start looking!
  4. Looking for a good comp focused on their instrumental 60s groovy/jazzy stuff, if it exists.
  5. Second vote for Everest. Also, Capitol mono classical LPs from the 1950s sound much better than repressings on Angel.
  6. The second Sinatra/Jobim album was never released in its entirety on LP (although a few 8-tracks made their way out and command big bucks). 7 of the 10 tracks appeared on the Sinatra and Company album. The remaining 3 tracks showed up on the Reprise box but nowhere else, AFAIK.
  7. Ben Webster - Soulville - Verve (70s twofer, stereo) with Oscar Peterson and his usual accomplices.
  8. My wife shares my obsession and is responsible for a significant percentage of the jazz and groovy albums in our house, including Lalo Schifrin's "Gone with the Wave" (Colpix) and Kenyon Hopkins's "Lonelyville" (ABC). When I found she had an original copy of Les Baxer's soundtrack for the biker flick "Hell's Belles" (AIP), was hooked. When we merged our LP collections and unloaded the duplicates, I knew there was no turning back.
  9. To each his own, but I completely don't get where you're coming from. What's wrong with this album? It is haunting, beautiful, and sounds like virtually nothing else. I can see if you don't like 60s delirious soundtracks or modernist classical stuff, but if you like either of those two genres, this one delivers. I've been listening non stop and I keep discovering new things.
  10. The place is lousy with fresh strawberries this time of year. Either drink 'em or they go bad.
  11. MIKE NESMITH IS GOD! ESPECIALLY IN MONO!
  12. The Monkees - Headquarters - Colgems (mono) 1st pressing with beard photo on the back cover
  13. U B 1 sick puppy. If I were listening to the stereo versions, then I'd be a sick puppy! )
  14. More of the Monkees - Colgems (mono)
  15. The Monkees - Colgems (mono)
  16. Tony Mottola - Rome Today - Project 3 The perfect album for today's young couple cooking pesto stuffed tomatoes and a side of pasta.
  17. I cannot stop listening to this! I am re-potting a monstera deliciosa, drinking strawberry daiquiri, and listening to this album!
  18. I recently listened to the promo of disc one. I've never had a CD of this, so I had nothing to compare it to. It sounds fine, although my mono 6-eye LP sounds better.
  19. Bossa Nova - Ramsey Lewis - Argo (mono)
  20. Johnny McGraw.
  21. Now I'm listening to this. Most of Hank's "soundtrack" albums from the 60s were re-recordings, and focused on the pop/lounge/jazz aspects of the scores rather than the dramatic music. Sadly, as a result, Hank picked up a reputation as more a of tunesmith than anything else. "Wait Until Dark" features the actual soundtrack recordings, and has it all - the dark moody stuff, jazz, bossa nova, everything you would hear in an insanely groovy/disturbing soundtrack of the era. What a guy.
  22. Drinking a glass of red wine an listening to this insane slice of 60s delirium. Amazing!
