  1. Like these ouvertures conducted by Horenstein. I am sure i will return to this recording with pleasure. Found a sealed copy but it's a little noisy. Ok, .. I don't have it on cd/lp but listened on youtube. Maybe i will have a better listen one day.
  2. I enjoyed it. Have you heard Smetáček ?
  3. This recording hits the spot ! Delivers a transparant and stately performance despite being a little slow. No, that Leipzig recording doesn't sound good to me.
  4. I will check this one in a minute ... and i will comment ... i am curious.
  5. I didn't expect something, just started to listen. It's not to bad, ... it's pretty slow but more significant it misses the poetic/idyllic almost idealistic touch this piece screams for (or is that just me ?!). Someone else described this version like Neumann in the rol of a wise story-teller instead of a poet and i agree with him.
  6. Just listened to part of Neumann's Ma Vlast (Leipzig). I am not impressed by this recording. Boring ...
  7. Steven Wilson - The Raven That Refused to Sing (and Other Stories)
  8. Quote: Both the Penguin Guide and Gramophone Magazine have praised this recording (now reincarnated at super-bargain price on the Ultima label) as being 'echt'-Bartok, in the tradition of the Vegh quartet, but with richer, digital recording, a greater sense of vibrancy and truer intonation. Bye the way regarding my pervious message. This message/quote is incorrectly listed on Amazon and is about the 'Keller' recording !
  9. I've been listening to some of his recordings and i've enjoyed them ! Do you prefer these or 'De Larrocha' or no preference for you ?
  10. These recordings are from 1991 but studio ... recorded in Japan. I am not an expert in Bartok's stringquartets ... these recordings are growing on me little by little, especially the first ... 11. ahhh, ok ... looks promising. Maybe i will have a listen later. I have Mompou recordings of his own music on this label (Spanish i believe) and they are marvelous also.
  12. Pavel Haas - String quartet 2&3 (Hawthorne quartet) * Korngold & Krenek - Violin Concertos (Juillet, Mauceri, RSO Berlin) * Goldschmidt - Violin Concerto (Juillet, Goldschmidt, Philharmonia Orchestra) ... and, ... interesting ?
  13. Rachmaninoff plays Schumann, Chopin, Mendelssohn, Rachmaninoff, Kreisler
