  1. Enjoy the Series, Brad! Man, did the Cubs walk into a buzz saw!
  2. Best of luck to your boys tonight, Brad! I'd love to see a Mets/Royals Series!
  3. The way they coasted into the postseason had me wondering if they could even make it out of the first round. I certainly wasn't convinced that they could. Especially as ferocious as Texas was at the time, and Houston and Toronto both being very dangerous teams. I guess if I've learned nothing else about my boys over these past two seasons, it's that they need that pressure. They have to feel their backs against the wall before they kick it into overdrive. MLB and Fox must be shitting themselves. Though they at least either get Chicago or New York no matter what.
  4. Oh, and the "couldn't get in synch" thing, that's been happening between Cueto and Perez since Cueto arrived. It's been an immense source of frustration for both Perez and us Royals fans.
  5. Everybody has plenty of chances to beat Denver. But, their defense saves their bacon week after week.
  6. I listened to Denny and Ryan call Royals games on the radio for years. Funniest pairing you'll ever hear in your life. Denny has lost a step or two since then, but he's still one of the best. You're not familiar with the "man in white" mythology there at Rogers? Do a Google search, it's pretty hilarious.
  7. That's a message you're going to see until this series is over. Lot of history there, and these two teams do NOT like each other.
  8. Yeah, I wouldn't think. I didn't even realize he'd died until I looked it up just now.
  9. ??? Was that meant for me? I never thought I'd see the day when the Royals were the only one of the remaining four Championship Series teams to have the most recent success. Three short years ago none of the four teams remaining even had winning records. The Mets at 74-88 had the best record. That same year the Cubs lost 101 games!
  10. As a long suffering Royals fan who just got his first taste of success last year, I can say I'd rather be blown out 10-0 than lose a 1-0 ball game. Especially in extra innings. BUT, having been 90ft away from the tying run in game 7 of the World Series last year, I can say I would MUCH rather have been there than having been swept or losing 4-1. It was a fantastic series against the Astros, and I would have been just fine had they won last night because my boys faught hard. That's all a fan can reasonably ask.
  11. Wow, what airplanes are you flying in? If Wrigley seats were as BIG as airplane seats, I would have had a more pleasant experience.
  12. Oh, I think we've seen ample evidence from the Snooterati right here at The O to firmly back that claim.
  13. More sentimentality would be my guess. Saw it here when Busch II was demolished and the Cardinals moved into Busch III, one of the cleanest, well thought out, and comfortable stadiums in MLB, with arguably the best outfield view, period. Old schoolers bitched and moaned and said it just lacked the personality of the old Busch, and that games just weren't as fun in the new stadium. Hahahaha…yeah. Busch II was the old cookie cutter multi-sport shithole a la Veterans and Fulton County Stadium. Went to several games at the old Busch, and have been to several games in III. People that miss Busch II need their heads examined. Sentimental. Memories. First time going to a game with their dad. First time going to a game with their son. I get it. But the difference between the two stadiums is night and day.
  14. Here, this pretty much sums up my feelings on Wrigley. http://www.si.com/more-sports/2011/06/17/wrigley
  15. And it's all about sentimentalism. Wrigley is a dump. Though perhaps it's gotten better with the renovations, who knows? The atmosphere of Wrigleyville is really cool, but the stadium itself is a hole. I've been to better low A stadiums. Or, let me put it another way. Wrigley Field comes from the same era when the Model T was the hottest car on the block. Now, let's say you drive a relatively new Vette as a daily driver. Is driving that Model T going to really be that exciting? It'll be a somewhat cool novelty to tell your friends about, but that's about it. But, I do agree that Shannon is one of the biggest homers in the announcing world. Perhaps a tick below Hawk Harrelson, but it's close.
  16. I'm spoiled because we have two of the greatest and modern stadiums in MLB right here in Missouri. With comfortable seats designed to supply some elbow room. I suppose Wrigley has its old school charm, but it's more a great place to tour than a good place to watch a game.
  17. Fuck Mike Shannon. Fuck the Cardinals. And especially, FUCK the Cardinals obnoxious POS fans in mid Missouri. They can all tongue my fucking balls. I can't stand the Cubs, but tonight is a damn good night! Actually, I have nothing against the Cubs as a team, I just hate that fucking nasty toilet they play in.
  18. The Cardinals are still a huge draw nationally, as well. The Royals were last year because of their story, but likely wouldn't be this year. If the Cubs made it in, it would be like the Royals story on steroids, though.
  19. Market size really doesn't matter when it comes to the NFL because it's a nationally televised on major networks. So revenues from commercial dollars is pretty much the same across the board. In baseball it's almost entirely dependent on your market size because coverage is local/regional on independent stations (though most are associated with Fox Sports these days, they still only broadcast in their own market).
  20. Yeah, and in the NFL you see players fined on a pretty regular basis for plays ruled legal on the field. I don't see why a suspension couldn't work the same way. Especially when the play in question ends with a serious injury.
  21. I hope you're right about the two games. There needs to be a really strong message sent. They let things get out of hand with the Royals and A's earlier in the season, then things snowballed in Chicago because at that time the Royals had simply slipped into "fuck it all" mode. They really can't have the kind of situation arise in the playoffs, on a national stage.
  22. Endorsing headhunting in retaliation is as immature and ghoulish as it gets. I guess if somebody does something I don't care for at work, I should throw a rock at their head. Off the baseball diamond it would be a felony assault charge. I still say it should be ON the diamond as well.
  23. Utley should really be serving a suspension for game 3. And I'm with Brad, I think both dugouts will be issued a warning before the first pitch.
  24. The way I see it is that someone has taken on the task to honor Miles. As Jazz fans, why should we bitch about that? Good, bad, or indifferent, it's a big budget movie about one of our musical heroes. From a marginalized genre. More, please...
