Frank Foster - Manhattan Fever
Kenny Clarke - The Golden Eight
Stanley Turrentine - The Look of Love
I've search hi and low for these 3 session. No luck.
-
I am think of one of these, J J Johnson or Sonny Stitt or the Johnny Hodges.
Anyone that have these sets, what do you think of them?
-
Thanks for posting that very interesting list, Mike.
There are a lot of fine players still with us.
Now, we need someone with some money to record and interview them all.

No prize for saying this, but it is great that you could still assemble a rhythm section consisting of:
McCoy Tyner
Richard Davis or Ron Carter or Reggie Workman
Elvin Jones.
Let's start with recording them. It sad that the shit selling mainly sucks.
Sick of all these boy bands and nubile blondes.
If everyone on the board chipped in $100 we can afford to record at least 2 of them.
-
Great news. Can't wait till I can order some of these.
Thanks for the post.

I would like to see as many of the remaining giants. I've see Horace Silver, Lou Donaldson. I know Lou is still playing. I know Wayne Shorter and Herbie Hancock are stillout there. Is Sonny Rollins still playing live?
How about any of these?
Jackie McLean
Jimmy Smith
Kenny Burrell
Oscar Peterson
Elvin Jones
Ron Carter
Clark Terry

Something by Leo Parker and Freddie Roach. I would like to see these get RVG treatment.

Does anyone know when the John Patton and Duke Pearson Mosaic selects will come out?

Has this session where there are just 3 track ever going to be released? Anyone know?

Wondering how many greats from the 40's-60's are out there but don't have a concrete record deal. Starting with Dr. Lonnie Liston Smith. Lou Donaldson, Jackie McLEan (of course), Dizzy Recce, Donald Byrd. Just a few that entered my mind. There has to be many more. These cats definded jazz. They should be in the studio laying down some more shit.

He deserves to be in the studio. I can’t understand why some of these giants are not signed to any labels. I was all set to see him Dev of 2002, but he canceled. I couldn't make the May show. If he does play NY, I have to see him. He is one of the few titians left.
-
Does anyone know what he's been up to lately? Does he perform anymore?
-
I just hope Jimmy gets better and is around a bit more. The world is a better place with him in it. I need to see him again. He really can play the organ.

My request is somewhat obscure, but a lot of Argo LPs have made their way to CD in Japan, but there is one I've searched high and low for, Richard Evans, Home Cookin'. Not that I expect Universal to put it out in America, but why hasn't it come out in Japan?
Argo? Yeah! There is a number of Lou Donaldson sessions that I would like to see from this label. Some are just as good as his Blue Note stuff.
-
Any sessions that come to mind that you would like ee make its way to disc?
I would like 2 Johnny Hodges and Wild Bill Davis sessions, "Wings and Things" and "Joe's Blues".
-
Aren't some of these already done as RVG's. I do have the Grant Green's Green Street.
-
65! Wow! What would he have done if he didn't get shot. I must pay a visit on my way home tonight from work to where Slugs stood, and shout, "Lee Lives".
-
http://WWW.WBGO.ORG has been playing his music throughout the day. You can listen over the Internet. Just finished playing Sppedball and the Sidewinder.
LEE LIVES!

I'll most likely go with the JJ set. It appears to be out there for a long time, which means OOP soon.
Thanks for the infomation.
