They probably have not everything, but they have something that we dont have - I did some search at his site... When it is talk about other countries and when it is jazz concerned, things varies from country to country, at least in Europe. I was amazed how did they were carefull in issuing historic records of jazz in Hungary; I've also heard the same is with Czechs, and probably with many more people around the world. I wonder about the traditional folk music of European Countries. Are these recording getting lost, or they do a better job then the US? Jazz is America's one true atr form and it seems like great treasures can be lost forever.

I'm still waiting for Lou Donaldson's stuff on Argo to reissued. Hopefully one day.

Here in the US, the library of congress keeps copies of copyrighted material. But how much of the early jazz do they have? How much of this music has gone the way of the dodo bird? How do other countries keep the tradition of their art forms from being lost to future generations?

I've read a few years back that Curtis Fuller has only one lung which limits his playing. This most likely the reason for him not putting out much in the past few years.

If the file was created as a MP3 it will never get back what it would have had if it were a WAV file from the start. To make the file size smaller something has to be lost. Most of the average listeners would not notice the difference. This could be said about CD’s to albums. There are some that can hear how much softer albums sound over CD’s. Digital recordings do lose the overtones which analog recordings capture. MP3’s just cut more of the nuances out of the picture.

Is there a recording that you wish was availble? I would like to get a hold of Kenny Burrell's "Freedom." I would like to see Johnny Hodges' small group recordings he did on Verve records with Wild Bill Davis get issued on CD. "Joe's Blues", "Wings and Things".

The fist for me was the Wes Montgomery Trio. I believe I was 10 at the time. He got me to want to play guitar, Never came close to his skills though.

I'm so glad I got mine 2 years agao. It is worth every dollar. Get it before it is gone. He was so underrated. I was happy a year or so ago when I read his widow recieved 2 checks each for 50 thousand. Intel used one of Blue's tunes in a commercial. Too bad he never got to enjoy that 100k himself.
