  1. I'm nothing if not "tasteful". Seriously, interesting comments, and I'm glad that there remain some real interesting "reveals" coming up when I get my turn. So long as some of the secrets stay unrevealed ...
  2. Glad you liked it Flurin. I spent a lot of time on sequencing, some of which will stand out better when answers are revealed.
  3. Dred Scott Debralee Scott Gene Rayburn
  4. fwiw, AMG's "Track Pick" would be Part 1. Guess the weirdness quotient went way up Part 2.
  5. This is different. We will finish closer to the Blue Jays, or possibly behind them, than we will a playoff spot. Bye-ya.
  6. Yeah, but most people don't post negative or neutral feedback if unhappy with a transaction. Most people don't leave any, or just a "got the record, thanks." Not too helpful if you ask me. I've always posted about poor grading, sometimes as a "neutral" to let people know that this guy doesn't always grade properly (I'm presuming that since "neutral" doesn't effect feedback ratings, no one will give me a negative in reply). I've also posted about bad grading with a positive feedback report, when the seller has apologized and offered a refund or partial refund. I figure we all make mistakes, so give a guy credit for trying to make amends. That's the kind of seller I'd still do business with.

  8. Actually, Matt, underfunded student, had the original idea in his BFT 38.
  9. No, the correct response is, "He isn't jazz, he is instrumental pop. If you like it, fine, but it ain't jazz and never will be. I'd play you something that qualifies as jazz but it would make your putrid-tuned ears fall off." uh, Dan? Are you married? Yes, to a woman who may prefer Def Leppard but had the good taste to know who Ella, Billie and Frank were. She may not love jazz but she does love music and therefore understands how a music lover could obtain as large a collection as I have.
  10. No, the correct response is, "He isn't jazz, he is instrumental pop. If you like it, fine, but it ain't jazz and never will be. I'd play you something that qualifies as jazz but it would make your putrid-tuned ears fall off."
  11. It should all just be a reminder to be careful when bidding and to check feedback specifically for mis-graded record complaints or comments. And look for "satisfaction guaranteed" listings, too.
  12. She wouldn't ever come home to see the collection, as jazz would have come up sooner and her true nature would have been revealed.
  13. MY GOD when you think it can't get any worse, it does: SWEPT in Kansas City. That's it - I'm done. See y'all in the 2007 MLB thread.
  14. I just finished Our Guys: The Glen Ridge Rape and the Secret Life of the Perfect Suburb, an at times sickening investigation of the community that provided the accomodating environment that indirectly led a group of high school jocks to rape a 17 year old mentally retarded girl. My question is, since the book was published long before their appeals were exhausted, does anyone know if these scumbags served any time in prison? Thanks.
  15. Yousendit.com sucks. My original upload expired today, and one person hadn't downloaded before, so I returned to upload again. Now, some of you may recall the trouble I had initially with yousendit. After I signed up for the "free" account, I had no problem with the uploads last week. However, now when I try to upload again, all of a sudden my file size is limited to 100MB, and both of these zip files are in the neighborhood of 165 MBs each. I can only guess that Matt was successful in uploading another set of zip files because he encoded the MP3s at such a low rate that the files didn't exceed 100 MB. But at the same time, how is it that I was able to upload 170 MB files the first time, and then not the second? Did yousendit change the terms of the account in between??? Like I said: they suck. So, I will still offer mail service at this point but it looks like yousendit is out.
  16. I too have the vinyl but can only dub to cassette at this point. Yeah, but I can dub to CD.
  17. Thanks a lot, Andy. Not so bad as I feared ...
  18. Thanks Andy. I imagine it would be hard to find a copy of either 45.
  19. I didn't know he was a troubled man. What was wrong with him? There've been stories told here ... seemed to be that he was a real ornery son of a gun, not exactly friendly to his fans. Beyond that I can't say though.
  20. Like this one: RIP.

  22. Does anyone know anything about Baby Face Willette's pre-BN recordings? According to the Doodlin Lounge they are: Hollywood 230, Wake Up Get Out/Cool Blues Vee Jay, Why/Can't Keep From Lovin' You which features Red Holloway on tenor Anyone ever heard or seen these? Are there any other pre-BN singles? And does anyone have a catalog number for the Vee Jay release? Thanks!
  23. Get the spelling right - its a SAMMICH.
  24. Al, last night I went to bed with a 4-3 seventh inning lead, two outs, second and third for the Royals, Timlin coming in. I figured it was over and fully expected to find out we lost 5-4. After all, Timlin has given up like 4 home runs in his last 5 1/3 innings. Especially after we twice had bases loaded and twice grounded into ending double plays. Now, it didn't happen the way I expected - Papelbon had a brutal blown save - but that was the score I woke up to. Like I said: FREEFALLIN It will be a weird September, not following the pennant races.
